Kat/Ea or Db/Ea

PREFACE: I am high as hell on pain killers right now, so please forgive ramblings and grammar mistakes.

Admittedly, I am an altaholic. Lately I have been running a SS/Ea br00t, and so far am loving it. So I have decided to make a scrapper with EA.

I have never gotten Katana or DB past the mid 30's, so was thinking about making one of them. The only question now is which one.

I like to perform stupid scrapper tricks. You know, solo the ocassional AV, jump into huge mobs, be last one surviving after a team wipe.

I come here seeking recommendations as to which power set. Suggestions are welcome, as well as reasoning behind such recommendations.

Thank you, than you very much!

Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?

Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

So, are neither one of these recommended? Or are they both pretty damned good?

Since EA doesn't really benefit much from divine avalanche, a case could be made that DB is the better pick. It's not that katana without DA is horrible compared to DB, but one of the sets essentially gives up one of its main gimmicks and the other does not. Both sets respond well to either a medium or a huge amount of recharge to create either a good or a great attack chain so in that sense they're not far apart. DB is going to be doing better aoe than katana while running its single target chain, katana arguably has more solid aoe all things considered.

I'd say play whichever you think looks coolest.

Pretty much anything can pull off stupid Scrapper tricks, so go with whatever you want. You won't need Katana's defense buff with EA, but the other powers are good enough that you would do fine with it. DB can do great overall and is one of the better minimum investment sets, but I believe you can get more out of the others. Claws and DM are very popular and I'd assume KM can get in the club with its damage buffs & debuffs. Fire should be a given, but I don't recall too many people using it.

I like FM on br00ts moreso than scrappers, as fury affects the DoT, but criticals do not.
As far as KM, I can not stand it. The animations and sounds drive me coocoo for coocoo poofs.

DM has very minimal AoE potential.

So for me leaves DB, Kat, or possibly claws.

I know which powers to take claws wise, but I really want a sword.

Is there a decent guide for DB around?

It doesn't really require a guide. Basically if you don't care about the optimal chain, take a bunch of attacks and try to use blinding feint as often as possible while running attack vitals and sweep for combos. If you do care about the optimal chain with a reasonable budget and some leeway in the build, run blinding feint, attack vitals, repeat. If you want the best chain and don't care how much it costs or whether your loved ones will start worriedly talking behind your back, the absolute best chain is blinding feint, ablating strike, sweeping strike.

Similarly for katana, iirc the easy chain to run is gambler's cut, soaring dragon, gambler's cut, golden dragonfly and the best chain removes one of the gambler's cuts? I don't really know it was well. Point being that you can run the easy chains with only a little global recharge, good slotting, and you don't even need hasten, so new EA is well suited to help either set shine.

The best attack chain for DB is Ablating Strike->Blinding Feint->Ablating Strike->Sweeping Strike. Can put out around 215 dps.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

Just saw this. And honestly, as soon as EM comes available for scrappers, I may roll one.
