There are a number of fallacies here:

1) Marie-Antoinette didn't say it anyway. It's likely that Rousseau made the anecdote up. She was actually quite charitable towards the poor.

2) There were no famines during the period of King Louis XVI.

3) She was executed because the French population at the time were xenophobic (she was Austrian), chauvinistic and thought that she had toiled away the country's money on frivolity and extravagance.

4) Oh, and she was guillotined, not hung.
