Game keeps crashing
According to your Helper file there, it looks like you are running the 11.5 drivers.
When you rolled back you drivers did you completely uninstall the old drivers? You might need to use Driver Sweeper to get them all.
Because if you are running anything other than 11.5 now, it looks like you have leftover driver crud.

Not always. That's why programs like Driver Sweeper were created. To remove the leftover files used when you uninstall the drivers.
Also, for ATI cards you want to uninstall from Programs and Features in the Control Panel so that you can also uninstall the Catalyst Control Center and other items installed with the drivers. Different drivers may use slightly different versions of the CCC and also use different versions of files with the same names.
If those files are still on the computer when you try to install older drivers, it won't replace the newer version of the file with the older version.
Basically, if you did it the way you described, you basically haven't really changed any drivers yet.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Could you maybe write a quick tutorial on how I should downgrade? I tried already and I messed up something and it took me like 30 minutes to fix. Now I'm on 1.8
Just in case this comes across as condescending, know that I am only trying to be thorough and clear. I am not meaning to be snippy or condescending.
- Download your driver(s) of choice. Do not install it yet Download and install your driver cleaner of choice. I've used Driver Sweeper myself without any problems. Do not run it yet.
- Go to control panel, and select "Uninstall a program" (if on Vista/Win 7), or "Add/Remove Program" if on a system earlier than Vista.
- There should be only one entry with "ATI" or "Catalyst" in it. Select it, and uninstall it. Depending on the system, you might have to click "Change" instead of "Uninstall." If there are more than one entry, repeat for all of them.
- Reboot into safe mode.
- This can be tricky. Newer systems try to speed up boot times and that makes finding safe mode a bit more difficult.
- You want to press F8 just before the Windows Loading screen comes up.
- On a system that displays the POST (you'll recognize it if you get to see the grey text on black background mentioning things like drive detection and memory tests), I start pressing F8 repeatedly after the memory test and that usually works. Occasionally I have to reboot and try again.
- On a system that just shows splash screens, start pushing F8 on the screen before the Windows loading screen.
- You will know if you got it right if instead of the Windows loading screen you get a grey text on black background menu with the first option being "Safe Mode."
- Select "Safe Mode" and press enter. Unless you need Networking for something (and you do not for this), avoid ever selecting Safe Mode with Network Support.
- In safe mode, your computer will look "wrong" because your graphic settings are all minimum. Relax, that is okay. You will get a help page pop up describing what Safe Mode is. Read it or not, the choice is yours.
- Run your driver cleaner of choice. With Driver Sweeper, select the checkbox next to AMD - Display, and click "Clean." Alternatively, click "Analyze" first to see just what all is left behind even after you uninstall from Control Panel.
- Reboot normally. If Windows tries to install any drivers for new hardware, stop it. You want to handle this one without Windows.
- After rebooting, and stopping any auto instals by Windows, run the Driver installation of your choice.
- Reboot when required.
- That should be it.
Thanks, I'll try in a little
Well I tried your solution and now no drivers will install....
Alright I think I fixed it. Idk if I got the right drivers but I fixed it by doing this:
Do you have Display Adapter and Standard (Generic) VGA card entry in Device Manager under Display Adapter ? You should have this entry. Then you can follow this procedure to insall your VGA card drivers: When you tried to install Ati CCC, the big .exe file created a folder in C:\, your boot drive, named Ati or AMD. In this folder is another folder named Support. In this folder there may be another folder or Ati CCC installation files and folders. Here there is a folder named Packages. In Packages you have Drivers folder. In Drivers folder you have Display folder. In Display folder you have another folder W76A_INF or a similar name. This is the folder that contains actual Display Drivers. Please note the name and path of this folder. Now go to Device Manager\Display Adapter\Standard(Generic) VGA card. You should use Update drivers method and show the path to the folder you have noted above. This will install the drivers for your gfx card. Now you can reinstall Ati CCC 10.8 to install Catalyst Control Center. Starting with CCC 10.4, I have always received an error message for my Ati Radeon HD5770 that the INF FILE WAS NOT FOUND and driver installation failed. Since then, I have been using this method to install CCC. It was the same for CCC 10.5, CCC 10.6, CCC 10.7 and CCC 10.8. Prior to CCC 10.4, when I clicked the big .exe file (about 70 MB), Ati drivers and catalyst control center installed properly. Hope this helps. |
Hello I was told to make a thread on here a week ago (Never did though)
I have an ATI Radeon HD 6950 (apparently a lot of people are having this problem)
I've rolled back my drivers to 11.4, 11.3 and 11.2. None of them have helped. How can I stop this crashing! Please help!
My cohhelper info (I was told you may need this?)
