Just wondering if it is a pulse power like Volcanic Gasses, or will it only affect the targets at the moment of the explosion.

As I recall it's both. The first pulse has normal accuracy, is the strongest and most reliable. The additional pulses are extremely low accuracy and nowhere near as reliable as Volcanic Gasses. It's best to only rely on the initial pulse, which is just long enough to break a spawn and let you drop your other powers. I'd recommend to slot it with something like a full lockdown set.

Just to clarify, if you have your hit rolls channel on, it will report Poison Gas as being autohit. This is misleading.

The initial pulse is not autohit, but all targets that are hit will have a short duration mag 3 hold applied. Accuracy should help with this part, if you can find a way to slot it.

Subsequent ticks every 1 second are autohit, and all targets within the gas will have their regeneration and recharge debuffed for at least 10 seconds. There is also a 2% chance to hold proc per tick. Accuracy won't help with this part.

Will the regen debuff last the whole 260 seconds though?

The debuff lasts 10 seconds and is reapplied every tick, so if they stand in the debuff the entire time, it should last the duration. If they run out of it, it'll expire until they run back in. Since they are pseudo-pets, dropping more than one should even be capable of stacking the debuffs. However, I've never bothered to use the Power Analyzer to confirm.

Haha. Well I've always enjoyed Dark Blast. I understand it isn't top notch for some players but it fits my playstyle.

For instance, I could never stand Fire Blast. I understand it's probably one of the best blast sets for raw damage, but I just can't get along with it.

The other options were ARifle, Psi and Rad. If I get to enjoy Traps I might just roll another one.

Traps and dark blast DO have synergy that isn't as obvious as other pairings or thematic choices. Traps is heavy on a lot of debuffs; dark blast augments these with the hefty cones and AoEs of -tohit.
