Help choosing At/Powers?

I wanted to create a character with enhanced strength and survivability, without too many super special powers. This is the main concept, and I'd like him to be reasonable in terms of gameplay, so I am trying to balance the two aspects to enjoy the most out of this. I want him to have reasonable to good damage, and while I enjoy having some defence, I'd like to have some great res at least against Sm/L. He will be pretty large, so being squishy would be somewhat weird.

So, I am torn between Brute/Scrapper for ATs, Street Justice/Martial Arts/Super Strength for primaries and Invul/WP for secondaries (shields/weapons are out of question). Those are the ones which I feel that would go best for this concept. I also thought of Tanker, but I really want to do some damage. I don't know to what extent they can actually damage foes, so I suppose that Brutes'/Scrappers' damage caps seem more attractive.

For the people who played it, is the new Street Justice set any good besides the animations? The comments I've read made it seem like it looked cool, and that's it. Is it comparable to MA/SS? Would it do better with a Brute or a Scrapper?

Thanks for the help.

Any of those primaries and secondaries will do fine. There's really not that much variation in damage output between those attacks. For the defense, Invuln will have more resists and defense, but WP gets more regen and the Quick Recovery power for easy endurance management.

Regarding AT, I'd say Brute or Scrapper are about equal to each other. There's some subtle differences in damage and protection numbers, but nothing worth getting worked up about. Tankers, on the other hand, have substantially better survivability at the cost of damage. A Tanker's damage DOES contribute to his team taking down foes, especially with the 'Bruising' -resist on their first tier attack. However, a Tanker's most common role on the team is as a damage sponge to help keep everyone else alive, and it doesn't sound like that's what you're after.

Its not too bad....it has an interesting mechnic the versiont hey had onthe beta...where it had some good area of effect attacks.

The combo system makes the powers a little weaker then the other two sets you mention becasue i assume the combo going to three gives a finisher more damage thus they make the powers all do less damage if you dont have a combo of 3.
Lag makes the combo system not work too well.
Over all its not too bad.

is it comparable to Martial Arts and Super Strength...i would say yes...more like MArtial Arts though as its annimations are about the same speed.

In my opinion it would work better with a scrapper.....becasue with a brute you want to build furry whihc will lower the more time you take....thus with a scrapper you dont have to worry about that.
