Advice on a Stone/Stone Brute.
I'm assuming that a Stone/Stone brute will want to focus on sets that add Defense, Recharge, and Run Speed.
|
I'd be taking the Fighting pool for sure. Both Tough and Weave. Even with those and a Steadfast unique, you'll still only be sitting at around 27.5% S/L defense. I think you'll need most of your focus on S/L/E/N defense when putting together the build, with +run speed and +recharge where you can fit them in.
It looks like an interesting challenge. I don't have time now but if no one has responded tomorrow I'll see what I can put together in Mids'.
Okay here's a quick first pass I put together. I'm not really happy with it, but it may be a decent starting point. I found myself having a hard time balancing the build for defense, recharge, and +runspeed without having any specific goals for any of them.
It's not softcapped, but the defense numbers are high enough to provide strong survivability. If you can afford the PvP +3% defense IO that would make upping the defense easier.

Defense, Recharge, HP, Runspeed is what I went for in my stone/stone brute. I like to teleport around, so Runspeed wasn't an issue for me.
Unsure what I would place for Alpha.. thinking Cardiac though just because you will be attacking more often than you would if you were in GA.
****
I attempted a build, mainly just to throw out an idea.
Went Cardiac Core.
Is softcapped to S/L/P.

Those are great, thanks! Gave me a good bit of insight from where to start building her. Ultimately I'm not interested in having her farm or take on a ridiculous number of mobs, but it'd be nice for her to solo tip missions and stuff without running out of wind. This puts me on the right track.
I admit I'm not in love with the stone secondary. Seems like so many damn toggles, and Rooted throws on a lot of negatives for stat resistance. But the character's concept is that she can control chocolate; and stone is the only thing I can get a choco-armor type look out of.
That is one cool concept! ^^
I want to make a jello-man character but there is no crystal version of GA >.>
SA is kind of toggle-heavy if you do not take Granite. But that is because Granite is practically all the toggles in the set shoved together, ditching Psi defense for more resists.
I reworked the build I posted earlier..
Instead of a softcap, I went with 32.5% defense to S/L/E/N (and P if you run Minerals when facing psi-attackers) - so to cap, you eat a [Luck].
Is lots cheaper too :3

You could probably emulate Jell-O with the slime aura! That's what I do with Chip; a brown slime aura looks like melting chocolate.
That build you just posted looks great! A lot more affordable. I was looking at that EPP in my initial build, and thought that those two powers would be a good fit for an endurance hog like stone. Thanks a ton!
I demand chocolate armor NOW!

@Caucasiafro
I reworked my char last night to match the build. I didn't IO her out that much yet, still hoping to get some of the pricier recipes with merits or sheer dumb luck. Endurance was a huge, huge issue, so I'm definitely going to take the Ageless Destiny power, I think.
I can't imagine the character being very playable without IOs and Incarnate powers. It really reminded me of why I had stopped palying her so many years ago, because Stone Armor seems like it has so many negatives behind it. I want my status protection up before I land in the middle of a mob, but if I put it up before then, I go at a snail's pace. Endurance costs are through the roof with the multitude of toggles, and the best part is, they don't even defend that much. >.>
Hello everyone! I've recently been going through my old characters for ones that fell by the wayside. I've revamped my Controller and Mastermind into awesome weapons of destruction thanks largely to help from this forum, and I'm hoping to do the same for my brute.
The only 'must have' power I'm planning on leaving out is Granite Armor. I know I'll probably catch heat for it. >.> I didn't like it partially because it didn't fit her roleplaying theme, and partially because it slowed me down oh so much. I never wanted to tank with her, so things worked out.
She's Stone/Stone. I made her when brutes came out and had mixed feelings about it. The stone attacks look fantastic, and I like the bulky stone armor, but there were problems. I despised moving along at a crawl with Rooted, and she was constantly plauged by endurance problems throughout her levelling career. Even at level 50 it felt like after four or five attacks, she was huffing and puffing. So I have a few quesitons.
Firstly, since I retired her, IOs came out. I'm assuming that a Stone/Stone brute will want to focus on sets that add Defense, Recharge, and Run Speed. Am I accurate in that guess? I'm not necessarily looking for someone to post a full IO build; but naturally if someone has one just laying around I'd appreciate it.
Incarnate wise, I was torn between Musculuture for the Damage and Run Speed boost, Cardiac for help with the Endurance issues, and Nerve for the Defense and Acc boost, which seems like it would help in fighting purples in trials. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much for any advice!
