How to find the server with the best connection?

Is there any easy way to test the ping and connection quality to the game servers? I understand that creating a character on each server should do the trick, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

They're all physically in the same location, no longer east/west coast or europe.

Really? Okay, that makes it easier. Plus it makes server transfer tokens less useful. I was thinking of putting some free VIP server transfers to moving character to Union, but if they're not there there's not much point.

I guess I'll just continue using the servers I've always used (Protector, Virtue), maybe add Union just so that I could play with people in a closer time zone.

Yep. They're all located in Texas now. They used to be in Virginia and California and Germany, but everything is in one place in Austin TX now. And to be honest, there were many reports from Europeans saying their connections to the old NA servers were often better than their connections to the old EU servers. The internet infrastructure in the US is heftier than EU, and Germany in particular.
