I've been having trouble playing with my fire/stone build. Its not exactly a common power combo, but the only builds I could find were legacy builds before the Fitness change.

Anyways, I feel like I'm just not getting enough resistance.

At first glance I would label this build nearly unplayable. Your attacks are woefully underslotted, sometimes not at all. You also seem to be going after recharge bonuses at the expense of your build. Tremor will be near useless, Seismic Smash is a spectacular attack and needs to be taken earlier and slotted. Also, you took boxing and kick with weave, but left out Tough, a major source of S/L resistance.

Fire/Stone is an extremely strong combination, combining a high damage primary with a hard-hitting, mitigation heavy secondary.

See, I feared Tough and Weave would function like Combat and Super jumps, where only one could be active at a time. Mind you, its not my active build, just something I was playing with on hero builder. My in game build is slotted a little heavier with the attacks, but I still fear my lack of resistances. But Maybe I'm overblowing that.

Oh wow ya your going to have major end issue with this build just glancing at it. First off you only have 4 KB protection and thats not really good, try to get atleast 8-12 protection. Also those purples in your attacks are doing you really nothing but costing u infl. Switch them out with Kinetic Combat 4 of them and then put in something else to help with acc. Your leadership pull is costing u major end issues, and you did not take FE? I would get rid of kick, also change out the taunt IOs out of tremor since they really aint doing you no good, replace them with eradication 3 or 4. Also replace the rest with RA to give u better S/L def. Have I miss anything?

Ok, so I scrapped the old build and rebuilt from scratch taking into consideration some of what was said... however, I took Build-up Over FE. Build-Up has a 90 sec recharge and FE has 180 sec recharge. Given that, the majority of my attacks (the stone) will get twice as much benefit from me taking Build-Up compared with taking FE, where Burn and Blazing Aura would get these bonuses, but reduce the total amount of bonus for my stone attacks.

first off your miracle proc + rec is only good when u use healing flames, and i think the PvP IO is the same. You over slotted tuff you only need 4 there. In build up i would of slotted it 3 or 4 and have 2 RR and 1 or 2 recharge IOs there. CJ only needs 3 or 4 slotes as well. The Kinitic crash is a bad idea in tremor. I would replace them with eradications.

According to wiki, the PvP IOs work as set bonuses and are always on, but you're right about the Miracle proc.

EDIT: Rather, the teleportation protection is a proc, but the 3% res/def bonuses are constant globals, and that's why I wanted them anyways.

Like i said i think it works the same, like the numa/miracle/Reg tissue/ and the PS ones.

Ramses I couldn't play your tanker. I would suggest you pay more attention to how much resistance the next resistance IO is adding than the next bonus. Put them bonuses to second place as you build. The chance for damage in Boxing is basically more expensive but of no greater bang for buck than if a basic Damage IO was there. Concentrate on what the power is for, buff that side of things, perhaps lower the end costs, think of the rechg and then worry about bonuses. I know you have to do both at the same time but it looks to me like more attention is paid to what the bonuses are doing. Your slotting in fire shield would be better in temp prot, the slotting in temp prot would be better in tough, the slotting in tough would be better in fire shield..it goes on and on. I would start again. I'd advise on concentrating on getting your def to S/L to 45% then try for what extras you find yourself able to achieve.

I see what yuou mean about moving the slotting around, however... I can't find a single, serious fiery aura build that has more then 38% S/L defenses.

Do some Hamis or STFs/RSFs depends on what you are doing. Or u can replace them with reg Def IOs still be over 38%.

You mention struggling to get to the soft-cap for S/L, but have you tried aiming for 32.5 instead of 45. It would put you a small purple away from the soft-cap, useful for tougher encounters, and ease up on the slotting you'd need to devote to extra def.

I can't open the build without a data chunk or working data link, but it certainly looks miles better than the first build you posted.

Yeah, the exporter was acting up before, but I got the data chunk posted now too. Maybe that will help.

Well, you certainly found a crapload of defence. 50+ on melee and s/l.

Without fiddling too much with what you have currently, there are a few changes I would make.

Changing the End Mod in consume to the End Mod/Recharge will cut about 15 seconds off the recharge, with only minimal reduction to end/foe.

I would drop Maneuvers for Fiery Embrace. This still leaves you safely over the soft-cap, saves some endurance, and gives you a good boost to damage.

I would change one of the Defence in Combat Jumping to a Karma -KB, to replace the one lost in Maneuvers. It only drops defence by 0.6%.

Also, changing the Gladiator +3% def in Temp Protection to a Steadfast +3% def would likely pay for most of the rest of your IO's and net almost the same benefit.

Swapped a Def/End into Weave, dropped the other def from CJ for a LotG +Recharge, and 5-slotted Doctored Wounds into Healing Flames for the recharge bonus.

Your def to Melee and S/L is still above soft-cap (~47%), saves some influence, and some end, which will hopefully come in handy since Obliteration has almost no End Reduction as a set.

Ok I should of mentioned this before I also pointed out to my friend as well. First off most attacks are going to be S/L/En/neg. Getting melee up there is for positional is kind of a waist if you have S/L sc for the game will take the higher value. Also most of your attacks are lacking in acc. Not to mention you are over the rule of 5 on some of them. I played a little with it here you go.

I took what everyone has done and combined it into something I would be more comfortable playing, the power order is better except that the taunt that mysteriously got chosen by the OP because LSK deemed it so is a bit late in the build. I think if you are a team mate flexible tank then taunt is worth taking:

While I'm not quite finished yet, I did want to thank all of you for your help so far. This has been wonderful help, especially since much of the fire/stone guide work thats out there is vastly outdated (with one sole exception.) I'll have a finished build to post later this week.

This is how threads like these should evolve imo. Peoples ideas, eventually thrown together and then the OP takes what is there and comes up with something suitable to themselves.

Thank you on behalf of all of us for returning to the thread, often ya can post a build and never know if the OP has so much as looked at it. This is the key reason why I for one don't spend more than a few mins on a build. Some people might spend ages and never know if the build has even been considered and consideration is all anyone can ask.

By the way, out of curiosity... is there much reason for me to worry about ranged and negative damage and such? I mean, the final build isn't really holding up well against those, and I have no psionic resistance at all.

You do not need to worry bout range dam much since you are going type def. Yes you do have to worry about neg/en def that is one of the more common dam out there, only one more is the s/l dam. As far as psi u should have some def with it if u take certain sets, and i think it goes with 1 of the 4 major dam, kind of like fire sword is fire/lethal dam.
