Keybinding issues

Hey all, I doubt anyone could help me on this, but it's starting to become very annoying and I want to raise it's visibility.

Basically, the key-binding system has start to go weird on me. It doesn't recognize some keys, and transposes some keys to other keys. Here's a short synopsis.

---
If I go to Options->Keymapping, the following keys have difficulty.

\ (backslash) appears as ] (close bracket) in the keymapping display. If I type a \ while setting a key mapping on that menu, a ] appears instead.

If I type a ] (close bracket) it appears as a [ bracket.

[ is ignored as a keymapping if I type it.

= is also ignored (when I type = with for example Next Tray flashing, nothing happens)
---

This issue has been present for me for some time, but has recently got worse. The = thing is really killing me, because I switch my trays around (using - and =) on some characters.

I'm not sure at all what could be going on, but it's consistent and 100% reproducible. Also, as I was typing in the /bug report, I noticed that the characters would appear correctly in the bug report dialog box. \ appears as \, ] appears as ] and the [ does show up when I press it, even though the key mapping display doesn't acknowledge it.

So I'm kinda at my wits end, but I'm sure it's a software issue. Thanks for listening.

Ok, so it thinks \ is ] and ] is [ while not recognizing [ or =. Bizarre. If you set the bindings as you describe, does anything happen when you press the \, ], or [ keys? Have you tried using the /bind command to set them the way you want? What kind of keyboard do you have? Do you have any sort of remapping or helper program running that can alter how keys are interpreted? Any other program having key weirdness? Does your system correctly identify your keyboard? Are your language settings for the keyboard correct?

Lots of questions yes? It certainly sounds like the game is misinterpreting your key presses or is getting incorrect or garbled inputs from the keyboard somehow. You might also try removing and reinstalling the game or at least having the updater verify your files.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

Have you gone to your keybind file in the CoH folder to double check that you've not somehow bound over those keys?

Personally, I don't even use the keybinding page in the options menu anymore, except to load up the "default" file (which I've directly edited to my own preferences).

I typical use a Microsoft brand wireless mouse and keyboard. I disconnected the USB receiver and tried just the laptop keyboard, same result.

I scanned for viruses and got no hits (found one tracking cookie). I don't use any kind of helper programs or other external key remapping software.

Keybind file: I haven't looked at it yet, but I don't think so. I can type the keys fine in chat. I'll check other things as I have time.
