Vocals - A (minor?) update

When we got the big shiny in the form of Ultra Mode, the way sounds were attached to mission maps changed a little bit.

Going Rogue then introduced us to the battle theme music which I'll admit I only realised was a much-loved and absent feature when I heard it, if you know what I mean.

T'other day I was jumping around with a Praetorian Corruptor, a boy on the verge of adolescence, yet he sounded like a backing vocalist for an 80s hip-hop band.

In short, deep basso voice doesn't fit well with Male character model when said character is a young boy. Similarly, my Controller is an older woman and not a chest-slider-set-to-11 super heroine.

I wondered if there would/could be a chance of adding some more customisation to 'character voice' by changing things like the jumping noise and perhaps even the 'KO' noise.

So maybe 1 or 2 robotic voices, a handful of young female, female, and older female voices, etc.

I'm not asking for a change to powerset noises (especially sonic) or adding voiceovers to cutscenes. I'm just concerned by the voices attached to our in-game avatars.

I do completely agree. It would be a minor update, I believe, to just add into the character costume creator. I'd say when you make the character, you could make it whatever voice/pitch you'd like, and then if you have the science pack, you could edit it per costume, in case your young boy turns into a burly lumberjack man xD

For me I would say no thank you.

Would have no problem if it were an option that I could turn off though.

Enjoy your day please.

Your idea and voices for cutscenes would be cool.

You're funny. It would most likely not be a minor update. Granted, there is already code in place to determine whether to use the female or the male sounds; but this could actually make it more complicated. Any time you go back into old code and update things, there's a chance that something will go wrong. Actually coding in the extra voice options and making a menu option for it or an option on the character create screen; that shouldn't take too much time to do. But making sure to change all instances of the variable calls for the sounds and debugging; it would add up to quite a hefty amount of work. It'd be an easier task to add this feature to a game that didn't have any sound at all.
