Outdoor graphics flash in Praetoria?

As of today (6-28) post-patch, my girlfriend and I are getting brief, black graphics flashes when outdoors in Praetoria. Missions seem ok. We're on vastly different computers but certainly more than new enough to handle this; we've had no issues before today. She has a laptop, and I have a desktop, and mine was built for my birthday back in April. No viruses on either machine. Neither of us has COH Helper or Hijack This, and we're not looking to install those for the moment. . . BUT is anyone else facing anything like this as of today?

Thanks for any assistance.

Check your drivers perhaps? I've been running in Praetoria the last couple nights myself and haven't seen anything like that. I've been on Infinity so perhaps it was the server you were on too. If it continues, you might try another server as a test and see if the problem continues there. Also, doing a verify on your CoH files might help. Otherwise, throw it to support and see what they say. Especially if it seems specific to the server you play on.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

I've been getting this singe GR closed beta. No anount of verifying/reinstalling gfx driver updating would fix it. Support were useless so I just avoid Praetoria. The flashing is much reduced with ambient occlusion and ultra-shadows off.

ah hah!

I was afraid I'd come in and find nobody else with this problem.

Yesterday, I zoned out of the Hami Raid into Ouro, and was visually smacked with the pool flashing bizarrely. Hubby was on his 'puter (different system) right behind me and was not seeing it. It seems to be the water effects... all of them. I went to Talos, and the sea was flashing. I had to lower the water effect options to stop it.

I'm running on:
Win XP Home '02, svc pk 3
AMD Ath II X2 255
3.11 GHz, 3.25 GB
ATI 5770

Early last weekend (before patch) I switched my drivers to 11.3 due to crashing. Was running fine (no visual glitches) until yesterday.

While the entire screen flickering issue in Praetoria (during the day only, btw) has to do with your shadow settings, what you describe, Kat, sounds like it's related to your Reflective Surfaces setting. I had flickering reflective surfaces until I turned my Reflective Surfaces setting to maximum and then they stopped flickering. It does cost a couple FPS, but it worth it.

Yeah, I realize it may or may not be related to the OP's problem...

Thing is... all was fine and dandy until Tuesday's patch. Yesterday was just the first time (since patch) that I was in Ouro to notice it.

I will try sliding the reflective surface option, though... just to be sure.
Thanks
