Access to the EU servers?

I have a NA Account, all of the "old" servers are working fine and without problems.
But since I am European, I would like to join the EU Servers too (which I can see and select in my server list).

But I cannot.

I can begin to create a new character, but I can't "Register".
Fast way to see the problem is, I cannot "Check Name".

Is this a known effect? Any Ideas?

You cannot check names until after you have created a character. Continue with your creation process (type random gibberish if necessary, e.g. atslkntalkts). Then the ability to check names will be unlocked.

No one really knows why this is restricted...the devs have never said.

Ok. I will try to create a character again. I am used to be able to check the availabililty of a name before creation, but I have at least one char on each NA Server. So I never encountered a problem with name checking

But the Basic Question is:

It should be possible with a NA Account to create characters on the EU servers?
(when playing from EU)

It doesn't matter where you are located (NA or EU or otherwise) or what kind of sub (NA or EU), you can make characters on all 15 servers. I am in Washington state and have a character on both Zukunft and Union.

Oh and technically there are no EU servers. A while back they were moved to the US, so all the servers have been NA servers for some time. They just finally merged the server lists recently. To everyones joy.
