Soul drain and burn

Hi, anyone have a fire/dark tank? Curious to know how well soul drain and burn work together. I didn't know how it compared to a build up power in other secondaries.

I don't have a Fire/Dark Tank, but from my experience with each set on its own (level 44 Dark/Dark Tank and level 36 Fire/SS Tank), I imagine that Soul Drain + Burn is a very happy thing indeed.

Soul Drain boosts damage and tohit based on how many enemies it hits. It can miss, but if you enhance it for accuracy, it should hit plenty of targets. If it hits enough, it will give a larger +damage boost than Build Up.

Just herd 'em up, hit Soul Drain, and Burn away.

Soul Drain + Burn will be brutal, indeed, but I think you'll actually get a lot more damage out of simply pairing Soul Drain and Blazing Aura. That damage buff lasts a long time, allowing for many ticks of aura damage on ten targets.

Mmm hmm, yup it sounds like it's time to make me a new tank!! LOL! Im sure a brute is probably a better way to go but I will enjoy more survivability with the tank.

I was messing around in MIDS' earlier this week and ran into the fire/dm combo, and I too thought it could work out pretty well.

So, I made the tank and have been playing him all week. He's up to 33 now, and I will have to say that Soul Drain + Burn/Blazing Aura is indeed awesome. I've even thrown Fiery Embrace in there for added damage. I'm waiting to get Dark Consumption, in addition to Consume, for more AoE action than I already have.

Also, I would suggest making a tank over a brute because of Gauntlet. I figure it's easier to hit all the AoEs when you can actually keep the group around you.

That won't be a problem for the brute either. Brutes have a watered down gauntlet, as well as a taunt in Blazing Aura.
