Just lost...

I used to play this game for the PvP, but I've been away for awhile and now that I'm back I just can't grasp this new system.

I'm noticing that the zones (freedom) are nearly 90% melee and doms. Neither of which I'm really a fan of. I like corruptors/defenders, but all my old favorite toons don't seem up to snuff anymore. I used to love my Sonic/Cold corrupter, but I feel like his survivability has taken a huge hit. My proced out Rad/Thermal was always fun, and he's still useful, but one on one with any of the scrappers out there I don't seem to stand a chance. My Ice/Rad corr just seems laughable with the way mez is working and nerfs to ice.

So what works these days for corruptors? I'd like to not be the goto easy kill in zones and have decent dueling potential. Most of my old SG mates have moved on from the game, so I play mostly solo, but I'd like to bring some sort of usefulness to zone pugs.

What are the more desirable set bonuses these days? I used to try and build mainly for recovery and recharge but I don't know how those work with DR. So what's good? Hitpoints? Damage? Mez resist? Defense?

What about epic pools? With hero pools available, Power Mastery seems sweet. I noticed the no phase timer, so phase shift and hibernate seem redundant?

Money not being much of an issue.....help me!

I gave up on PvP like a year ago, but since nothing has changed, I can still comment. Corrs work well when they team with other corrs, or any other ranged buff classes. When you have coordinated buffers working together, everything is pretty easy.

But more realistically when you play a corr, it will likely be you and 7 melee's, which means the only person anyone will target is you. Which is why when people play a corr in zones, they usually quit in disgust and log back in with their scrapper or stalker

You want to build mainly for +HP, +rech, and KB protection if you don't already have it in your sets.

All that said, PvP has never been worse than it is now. You can check it out for some occasional fun, but at this point, I would definitely not make drastic changes to your toons or make new toons for PvP. It's like buying season tickets for a really bad sports franchise that you know won't even exist next season.

Cause it's a PvP zone and they're in it....

Seems to be PvP is more broken then ever before if I should just be ignoring scrappers. But, I guess the above poster made that clear anyway.

Sucks a lot. This was my favorite PvP for sure out of all the other mmos I've tried. Shame it's really been gutted so much.

If you want to fight duels, use an elec/therm or dark/cold.

As for zone pvp...yeah it's not what it used to be. And with incarnates you get another layer of "oh crap" powers, so it's frustrating when you have barrier spamming, phasing, hibernating, MOGing, running back to the base, whack-a-mole people that are impossible to kill solo.

The solution to the problem has been the same since day one: learn to team. Make a character that's useful on a team, try to be with a group that can at least call and hit the same target. The irony is the type of character you want to play is what is needed: buffers/debuffers/disruption toons. Good support makes it fairly easy to farm the melee types you mentioned. I'm sorry I can't tell you more specifically what to roll because I don't know how you play, but good support and teamwork still make a huge difference in pvp.
