Dominator mind/mind Vs. Widow Fortuna

I have an idea for a second toon(still new to the game), based on the Mother Mayhem character. My question for the more experience players-you guys :P- what route should I go? This toon will be for soloing most of my offtime, so am considering either the Dominator class, mind/mind path, or a Widow Fortuna type. I am eager to avoid the physical attacks if possible(she would perfer to finish her foes off at range with the power of the mind).
At first glance, it seems the dom mind/mind might be my best option, but I love the Widow's background and general look-so Im torn.

I think you mean Mind/Psi Dom? As such, I have a Mind/Psi Dominator, Cerise Dawn, Pinnacle, who's a 50... and was dinged to 50 before the new Dominator changes made them more powerful than before. I'm kinda proud of that, especially when I only have 4 50s so far in 6.5 years

Yes, I'm slow... and distracted... and have to deal with Real Life(tm). A bad combination. Heh.

Anyway, the control the Mind/Psi Dom can wield is awesome, provided your target doesn't have Mez protection or such. Even still, you can throw them around, which can be handy too. You get the ranged stuff pretty much right away, and in the case of Cerise, she was a 'I am not here to help 'my' team, I'm here to hurt the other team(s)' kinda girl, so I built nothing but malicious Mind/Psi powers in, no help/healing stuff, and a lot of aim to boot. Doesn't do you any good to not have decent aim: If you miss, they'll hurt ya kinda fast.

Whereas with the Widow you'd have to wait to 24 to retrain to the Fortunata Widow to get the more ranged powers. Looks like mostly a closer-in set that you get until then, but I haven't done well with the Widow... I go for a character 'out the box', and don't respec many times, because I have a plan(tm) for that character, and follow it. Characters that are destined to change how they play midway through their careers are... weird. But that's me. So I'm not a good advocate for Widows, not my style.

You can solo a Mind/Psi Dom to a certain extent, but after about 25-30 iirc, it becomes really slow, really fast. You will need teams badly or grind grind grind. And you will need a TON of End Mods, and of course the 16-18-20 Stamina run.

---

I'm currently running Rose Dawn, a Mind/Kin 'Troller, sister to Rose Dawn, 50, Mind/Emp 'Troller, and sister to Cerise. If you have the ability to get a Blue Wisp Pet for the End Mod it gives? Do it. Don't get the Red one (or the equivalent pets, depending on your mood/character needs.)

That is a helpful little bugger. I forget what month that's for, though, so you may not yet have that.

Dunno if I helped any, but there ya go on my experiences. Good luck!

I'd suggest Mind/Psi if you are trying to parallel Mother Mayhem. Drain Psyche is a big deal for that concept since she is a psychic vampire (you learn about that doing certain story arcs in Praetoria).

Hi guys-yes I did mean Mind/Psi; should have been more concise. I love the widow look in general but yeah, this will be a Mother Mayhem sorta toon. The whole "psychic vampire" idea was intriguing. Appreciated the responses and advice. Was kinda bummed to hear they slow down at 20 or so though, but Ill see what they are like regardless. Thanks!

My experience has been the exact opposite of this. My mind/psi is lvl 48 and has been one of my easier charaters to solo with. Terrify at level 26 makes soloing easy. It's a huge cone that will leave mobs shaking in their boots while you take them down one at a time. Drain Psyche at level 20 will solve any endurance issue you may have.

16-18-20 stamina run?! Am I the only one with inherent fitness?

This is what my level 50 build will look like. Not saying it's the best build but it works for me.

Yeah, yeah, after I typed that, I forgot the inherent Fitness thing. I was thinking of before when I had to do it. Meh. Which is also why I said they're harder to solo, because Cerise was rather torturous to solo in the higher levels. I had to beg for teams to get her to level near the end.

Then the Dominator fren and the inherents hit, AFTER she'd dinged 50, and I haven't been back to the Dominator since that. I'm guessing that with those two, Dominator is probably a whole lot easier to move on up.

Rose is a 'Troller, and she's been really good to solo with that Mind/Kin set. I'm dedicated to getting her to 50, and it may be that she's powerful and quick enough to do it, so we'll see.

But then... I just rolled Homeslicerette, a Claws/WP Brute, current in Praetoria on Champion, and... well, that may just take up my funtimes now... Claws with Fury? Holy carp, that's a leveling machine, try to keep up, I'm movin' movin' movin' to keep that Fury up...
