Shriek does -20% res for 5 sec
Scream does -20% res for 7 sec Howl does -20% res for 8 sec Shout does -20% res for 10 sec Screech does -20% res for 15 sec 1- Do they stack? My guess is yes. 2- How do they stack? Will 2 Shrieks within 5 sec apply -40% or each power applies a debuff that only stack with other power's debuff? 3- If the later, on single target, eventually stun immune target, should I cast Shout/Scream/Howl/Shriek/Screech to maximise the debuffing or shout I go for Shout/Shriekx3 or Shout/Shriek/Scream/Shriek? |
2) Multiple Shrieks (my understanding) would do -40%, not just -20% for longer duration
3) If on a team, use Screech because of the duration of the -resist. Might do that solo too. I hear some respecing out of Shout because of animation times, so you may consider that if you got enough recharge to live with the other 4.

Isnt Shout DMA higher than the 2 others?
I tend to use shriek, scream, screech and electric fence since most of my */sonic defenders tend to also have at least one build using Electricity Mastery.
Why elec mastery when Mace let you cap S/L def so easely?
I just checked and it seems that shrieks will not stack with themselves, it seems to refresh the duration.

With the slotting I have now Shriek does 35.04 points of damage on the 1st attack. Fired off shriek when it recharged and did 42.04 damage. Fired again continually when the Shriek was recharged and did 49.05 points of damage Which is 1.4 times 35.04 just as expected.
You have to have enough recharge to be firing it off fast enough to stack it. That might have been the reason why you were not seeing it stack when you tried.

Elec has better ST damage. And most defenders would go for range def over s/l if they are going for soft cap.

EDIT: Most of them also haven't bothered with side swapping. I do have one Emp/AR/Mace that started in Praetoria and went to the Rogue Isles and let me say that it certainly makes going red for a bit very tempting. Mace for the defense, set bonuses still focused on recharge but Mace is just lovely amounts of +def out of the box ... now toss in a pet for buffing the way an Empath can and OH MY!
EDIT2: In the case of the first to start using Elec Mastery, an Emp/Sonic/Elec >> In Mids, Shriek 100.9 (5 Deci, Apoc proc), Scream 109.08 (the rest of the Apoc+Dev hold proc), EF 95.04 (toxic proc, 2 hold procs and 3 Centrioles). Leaves the range on the attacks nearly identical 80ft, 80ft, and 78ft, damage numbers with Assault running but no vigilance buff (teammates set to 3+) and some global +damage.
Trusting RedTomax's Data we have:
Shriek 0.84 DPA
Scream 0.79 DPA
Shout 0.794 DPA
Elec Fence 0.854 DPA
So elec fence comes slightly first but it doesnt debuff resist so the overall damage value is hugely reduced.
