Hi,
this sounds like an Issue between the Coh/NCSoft Server Farm and your location.
How is your computer Connected to the Internet, W-Lan or via Cable Connection? W-Lan can have difficulties if heavy electromagnetic traffic (like turning on a Microwave that's between em) between W-Lan and the Router/Dsl-modem u can have described difficulties.
Also seen User that have a dieing Modem reported such (they stated about a week or so later that their modem died,...).
So if u can try it with a different Modem/Router...
Also if ur Provider decides to change ur IP u would lose Mapserver Access (Maybe the Router is set to automatic reconnect and u lost Internet Connection for a second then) so turn of the auto-reconnect function and see if u lose Internet Access too when the Mapserver DC's happens.
The last thing can be issues with a data center between u and the server farm, sadly there is only a very small chance to solve this.
Edit: Turning off a few of your toolbars for a try could help too.... u have many of em
Greetings
That's exactly what I was afraid of.
I have no ability to attempt this with another router, nor can I hook it up directly to the modem, so I'm going on the hope there's some unforeseen technical issue (hopefully supported by the fact this began around or at the time of an earlier patch).
Edit: I would also like to note that the internet has no problems anywhere else but when I boot up games on my computer. My browser and chat clients still work fine and never stop loading videos/disconnect or anything similar. Probably should've mentioned that earlier. Oops.
Edit #2: I seem to have fixed the problem by allowing a process that computer scans and searches'd deemed redundant. Doh! Thanks for the help anyway.
Edit #3: Nope. Still crashing.
I really hate to bother again, but I have to. I let things run and did a Malware check, which detected something malicious in my computer and got rid of it (it was linked to my network, which was slowing it down).
Problem fixed, right? No. It's gone (completely, I checked), but...I'm still crashing off City of.
Any suggestions? City of Heroes is my only application with this problem. Any other games work fine, instant messagers and browsers are fine. I'm not having a problem with connectivity on anything but this game.

Download the drivers but don't install them yet. Download and install Driver Sweeper but don't run it yet. Uninstall the video card drivers and software from Add/Remove Programs. Reboot into Windows Safe Mode by pressing F8 rapidly during the boot process. Cancel any New Hardware Wizards that come up. Run Driver Sweeperand have it remove the remnants of the old nVidia drivers. Reboot into normal Windows mode but cancel any New Hardware Wizards that come up. Install the drivers you downloaded earlier.

One thing that I'm beginning to see a bit of a trend in is that several people reporting this type of problem are running Avast Anti-Virus software. Try putting the CoH directory in the exclusion list so that the game files aren't being scanned as you play.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Your video card drivers are almost 3 years old. If you don't want to try the newest drivers for your video card, I'd recommend upgrading to at least the 197.45 drivers since they are compatible with the graphics changes made in Issue 17 that your older drivers don't support.

I'm still crashing with these, so I might try the ones you listed instead.

Instead, I tried the next best thing and just shut down Avast! completely while I played. As far as I can tell, that didn't help.
EDIT: A friend showed me how to work Avast's exclusion system, and I've put City of Heroes under it; I'll test soon to see if that's cleared up anything.
After excluding it from Avast's protocols, the crashes persist. I've noticed they sometimes tend towards happening shortly after I alter a costume or Architect content, but I'm not certain if that's coincidence or not.
Hello, everyone! Unfortunately, I'm having something of a problem.
While playing the game, I'm typically fine; however, inevitably each day I fall victim to multiple crashes, each of these taking place in combat situations (thus far). I'd believed that it was only in missions that they happened until today, when they started happening outdoors in Independence Port.
I honestly have no idea what's causing this. Netgraph's showed me that my ping is steadily in the 130-170 range, though when I crash I seem to receive a brief jump upwards (I think, I'm not entirely positive on this since it's random and I haven't caught it every time) into the 200s, after which I stop doing anything.
I don't crash so much as mapserver to the login screen. If I go into my menu and hit "quit to login screen", I can actually log back in within 5 or 6 seconds like I've never left at all, since my character's still disconnecting and presumably only that client had the issue. Or something. I'm not a very technical person, so I'm unsure.
This bug's only been occurring for about a week or two, so I'd sincerely like it fixed before it becomes an issue; I'm an avid player of City of Heroes, and I'd rather not have it end that. Below is my gigantic text-block of my City of Heroes Helper extract. If I've made some dumb mistake in getting it somehow, please forgive me - I really have no idea what I'm doing.
