SD/SS IO Build
Why can't you use Mids'? Are you playing on a Mac? You don't have access to any PCs or laptops? There is a web-based character planner available at http://www.cohplanner.com/ but it isn't updated. I find it difficult to make builds without being able to see the numbers I am aiming for.
It is fairly easy to reach 45% defense on a Shield Defense Tanker. Slot your toggles, add Combat Jumping and Weave, and a Steadfast 3% defense IO. I prefer Luck of the Gambler sets, so I slot them with the global recharge enhancement, a def/end, a def/end/rech, and optionally a def if I need it to reach the soft cap.
I suggest you look at other Shield Defense builds on these forums to see how they built their characters. Without Mids', you may have to rely on the responses to determine if the builds are any good.
My problem is is that I am new to IO builds. I've only recently made my first for my scrapper and that took forever and it still isn't finished. I've tried to combine different build for defense and offense, but I always miss out on important power pools that help one build, but don't the other.
I'm under the impression you're playing the character currently. If you want to, you can export your character from the game into Mids, and from there you can export it to the forums for us to take a look at. That way we can see where you're at and can hopefully point you in a helpful direction.
To do this, do the following: If you have Mids installed on your computer, you should go to the Titan Network and download the Titan Sentinel. (If you don't have Mids installed go to CohPlanner.com) Be aware both are PC only.
Install and run the Sentinel and log into your character in the game. (You don't need to sign up to the Titan network to do this) In the Sentinel, under tools, select utilities and use the Character Export button. Open up Mids and Import from forum post. If you've done everything correctly, that's your current build. Save it for your own files if you wish.
To export to the forums, use the export function. I prefer to use the short forum export, fruit salad color scheme, phpBB/Zetaboard format. Export both the Data Link and Data Chunk as the link doesn't always work properly.

Come show your resolve and fight my brute!

Here's the build I"m currently running in game, you can make some tweaks that would suit your play style better. Not saying it's a great build, but I've had some good luck with it so far. Hope it helps.

It's a lot better than mine. I picked up leadership and other end hogs. Did you pick Spiritual for alpha or was that added in mids?
I went with cardia at first, but now that I've got all the other incarnate powers I'm working on switching over to spiritual so I can get hasten perma. Haven't been able to play in a while now, so hoping to get back to him and see how that goes, if I seem to have to much end problems I'll switch back, maybe go back and fourth depending on if I'm on a team and what type of buffers are with me.
Yeah looks like a good build from Deathharvester. The whole reason for Syntax suggesting you to do a build is to not only see your power picks but your line of thinking and to see if there are things you might not notice so that in the long run you're not slow at doing good builds. FWIW though Deathharvesters is not only good but easy for you to swap in cheaper IO sets till you can afford all of it if needs be.

He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
For the build I think I may drop Combat Jumping for Hasten.
Never mind. I see it in the build now.
In your build? Or are you talking about using my build and drop CJ for hasten? I have both. Not sure if your talking about another build or the one I posted, just incase you were talking about mine wanted to let you know that I do have them both in my build incase you just overlooked hasten by chance
lol, you beat me to it, I just seen your post and was letting you know it was there but a moment to late ;-(
Need help making this build. The one I've tried out sucks down my end and my defense is weak. It doesn't help that I can't use MIDs. So does anyone have a good build I can use?
