Taking damage gives better drops?

I have taken two characters all the way through the whole new BAF/LAMBDA experience and am over halfway through a third.

My first was my MM and I got (TOTAL) 2 rare drops, I had to build and pay for the other two, and I never got any VR drops.

My third is my blaster and she has gotten zero Rare and zero VR drops.

My second is my tank and she has gotten 2 VR drops and so many rare drops that she isn't using them all. In fact, she had most (if not all) third tier crafted before finishing her incarnate experience runs (judgement, lore, destiny, and interface).

So why does one get all the goodies and the other two don't? Well, the MM and the blaster pride themselves (as a matter of survival) on taking very little damage. The MM especially so since she is an FF MM. The tank however takes prodigious amounts of damage on a very regular basis, and she got rewarded for it.

If in fact the formula reward characters for taking damage, than this needs to stop and be adjusted to a purely random salvage drop across the board for all ATs. Either that or allow for incarnate salvage to be shared within an account so that you can take advantage of your good drops for damage takers. I am thinking bug hunter here! Hope so!

It's supposed to be random.

But the observational data acquired does not match that statement as you and many, many others have noted. Certain characters seem to be more apt to getting Rare and Very Rare components, while others get a large number of Uncommon components.

So after reading this I went on a Lambda... I decided to see if I could disprove it. So here I am, on my stalker.. taking every Nova Fist that Marauder could throw at me, right to the face. It hurt (luckily the Kin could heal me up before the next one). While I can't prove the original post.. I can't disprove it either, since I got a Rare.

In contrast.. I might have, maybe, gotten one rare on one of the two healers I run incarnate trials with.

Gotta wonder how they made their RNG work out the reward tables...

One side uses mind police and will "disappear" you and the other uses poison gas and bombs on civilians. Hamidon? He'll just have a tree eat you. Much simpler. If we're all going to be oppressed and/or killed by someone, it might as well be the walking trees. At least they don't speak in annoying code or doublespeak. They just devour you.

The tank didnt get a rare every time, but she got a LOT over time.

Matches my experience.

My blaster did very well in the first few days of trials. After I had barrier and diamagnetic going not nearly so much.

My SS/Fire brute started out well, slotted reactive and rebirth and is still doing well.

This hasn't been my experience at all. My dark brute has taken tons of damage in the trials and I've only gotten the rare table twice. On the other hand, my /nin stalker over on infinity has gotten a rare or very rare table on every trial he's done (5 so far) and he almost never gets hit.

My experience is in agreement with the original poster, i've done all T3's on my elec/shield scrapper (whom i basicly tank with), currently working on them with an ss/fire brute and started (and gave up) on a Dominator..

The dominator never got anything above uncommon, ever.

The scrapper can rake up Rare's in insane amounts

The brute has so far done 2 BAF run and 4 Lambda runs, resulting in 1 Common, 1 V-Rare and 4 Rare. On the 2 BAF runs he also dropped Uncommons from the final battles.

I'm not sure what it is that affects it, but something surely is (despite what the devs/gm's say)

My record for the scrapper is, believe it or not, 6 Rare tables over 6 consecutive runs, 3 BAF and 3 Lambda back-to-back.

My subjective experience comes close to matching the original poster as well. Two toons, both fairly close to finished with the whole iXP thing.

Stone Melee/Willpower brute: Five rares, one Ultra-rare. Frequently tanks Siege and marauder when needed. Primary defense? Out-regenerate damage taken. And takes a lot of damage.

Mind/Storm Defender: Zero Rares, one Ultra-Rare. (Spent that BAF standing directly between Siege and Nightstar with Hurricane up). Primary defense: bad guys flopping on their butts, and not shooting at her, followed by not getting hit. What damage she takes more or less sends her to the hospital, so isn't sustained.
