was considering the thought of making a rad/ffire blaster,but wasnt sure if i wanted to.it looks very promising on paper but not sure about playability.can i get feedback on pros an cons of this build,i would want the toon to be able to solo av's if possible.please feel free to give opinions and ideas

Can a Blaster solo any AV? I am not talking one of the glorified EBs with a pimped out powerset and a name tacked onto it. I'm talking the real deal. If so, how do they deal with mitigation? Is there enough holds, armor, defense, in any Blaster's toolbox to allow this?

since this set has no -regen powers, most likely not since you will need sheer DPS and surviveability

im working on a rad/fire blaster atm and im building him more for aoe dmg output (will have like a cone, 4 pbaoe, 1 target aoe)

Rad/Fire is primarily suited to AoE, considering the sheer amount you can get (Irradiate, Electron Haze, Neutron Bomb, Atomic Blast though that's your nuke, Combustion, Fire Sword Circle, Burn plus Blazing Aura and Hot Feet for damage auras). When you factor in IOs, pretty much any Blaster can solo an AV if you build for S/L or Ranged/AoE defense (and hover out of range with Aid Self).

I have a Rad/Fire and it is very fun, not 50 yet but has been tearing through content so far, even solod through Praetoria with ease thanks to the many easy AoEs making short work of supposedly hard ambushes.

For an AV soloing Blaster, I would suggest a Fire/Mental Blaster pimped out for Ranged then AoE defense and as much recharge as you can fit, with the idea being that you hover just out of range and use Drain Psyche from Mental Manipulation now and again to keep your endurance up and debuff your target's regeneration, then Aid Self for quickly healing back spike damage which gets through. It's easier to cap S/L defense thanks to the Villain patron pool Mace Mastery's Scorpion Shield, whichever's in your budget. They can even solo GMs

I'm sure if a more experienced builder sees this thread they could maybe offer up a build?

thank u all for the suggestions and help,but would fire/mm be better then fire/ice?because i was told that that is best blaster combo for soloing,im not a big fan of ice but if it is best for soloing as a 2ndary then so be it.

AVs are within the realm of most blasters these days, even without a -regen power. /fire, in spite of it's plethora of melee and pbaoe, has a very high dmg immobilize, making it a good candidate for a ranged blaster.

One approach would be to cap ranged, pick up aid self, and killz AV's.

AV killing is not the majority of gameplay, however. I'd be happier to softcap s/l, build for AOE destruction, probly still grab aid self, and content myself with only being able to solo 'some' of the AV's. ymmv.

Giant Monsters are another story, you'll need /mm's -regen for that. Maybe. Wouldn't surprise me with the new incarnate stuff to see a blaster take down a GM without drain psyche...

i know killing av's isnt the main point of the game but its where im going to find my enjoyment missions are old and tf's and trials are boaring,so now im going to hunt av's and try my hand at gm's as well jus to keep things entertaining and challenging.
