So i now have 2 Fire tanks at 50. and one Ice/Ele at 50. I need a armor to play around with. I have tried Shield, its awesome, i have a 50 fire/shield brute. But i cant play a powerset twice normaly, but Fire and Ice tanks are expections. Iv tried Invul, and really didnt get into it. So i was thinking of Willpower. Stone tanks arent my thing, iv tried several stone/* tanks, got them to 30-40s, and deleted em. Iv heard WP is good for most things. So what goes nice with WP for a secondary? I have a /ss, /ss, /ele, /dm at 50, so i would like to try something else besides those. So that pretty much leaves the axe/mace, stone melee and ice. Oh and Energy, which i have never tried on a tank. I wont mind trying a wp/ele tho, just thought that would be a good combo. Any thoughts or opinons? I love to team, smash big grps, takedown huge amount of baddies, ur typical tank. I am one of those tanks will try and bite off more i can chew, not scared of jumping in mobs few levels higher then me either. any help be nice, even suggestions, opinions or anything..

PS - Sorry for the spelling mistakes, new keyboard xD

Ice and Fire Armor are drastically different power sets. Ice combines strong defense with mitigation, whereas Fire combines resistance with increased damage. I'd say that the reason you like Shield is because it gives you a bit of both, and shares the psionic hole of Ice. My main is a Shield, so my opinion is a bit biased; but if you're looking to simply avoid attacks, go with it. You won't have incredible resistances, but you'll avoid most attacks.

If you're looking to go further down the resistance rabbit hole, I suggest Electric Armor. It's a lot more durable than Fire Armor; but it lacks the boost to offense. The tradeoff, however, is more than worth it in my opinion. You get a heal, and Power Sink is MUCH better than Consume. You're also looking at higher overall resistance, with toxic being the exception. Elec. Armor also comes with a +20% strength to recharge in Lightning Reflexes, and provides immunity to Endurance drain. All in all, I feel that Elec. Armor is the best for high end tanking.

Take a look at an elec/dual blade/soul.

With the Interface Reactive, bruising, and several Res debuff procs, you can (on paper) do quite ridiculous damage for a tank via massive resistance debuffs.

And as said, elec armor is nice, if you wanna go for the combos DB offers some good knockdown and, and it'll be TOTALLY different than any of your other tanks.

Well, if you're dead set on WP, I'd suggest Axe. The KB from the set would buy you plenty of time to regen any damage you've taken. Now, if you're still open to other primaries, I'd second ELA. Good resist numbers and +HP bonuses can do a lot to "stack" onto that. In fact, ELA/Stone is a very good combo.

As for Energy Melee. I used to enjoy the set, but since its nerf it's felt very subpar. I've shleved my toons with it until it gets some love.

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

Although you're correct in saying that Shields, like Ice hasn't got any Psi defense, you're incorrect in saying that it has the same Psionic hole.
Shields has positional defense and not typed (Ice has typed defense, such as smashing or fire) and because most Psi is positioned as ranged it actually does very well against Psi. Obviously there are exceptons and as such a positonal defense alt is unable to cap defense against Psi attacks for the simple reason that some attacks have no positonal component.
Overall Ice will struggle against Psi, Shields won't so...........no not a Psi hole on Shields.

As an avid Shield player, I definitely understand that most Psi attacks are positional. But when I say Psi hole, I mean, no inherent resistance to speak of, and resistance that can't easily be acquired. If I meant it in that regard, (no defense, per se)Fire and Electric would also have a Psi hole.

With Shield, you don't really have access to the enhancement sets that would provide comfortable protection to Psionic; because when you're playing the harder content(AVs, new Trials/TFs), your positional defenses are seriously put through the meat grinder. I could get a ton of psionic resistance on an Invuln; but that's pretty much all I'm saying.

So basically, when you're playing the harder content against psionic spawns/bosses/AV's/whatever, and your positional defenses are getting shredded, you're -definitely- going to notice your lack of Psionic protection.
