I doubt they'd abandon that feature that quickly. More likely they just haven't posted the targets for the 19th and onwards yet.
There's an assist-50-times badge attached to it. That makes it nearly impossible to do away with it. It may go on hiatuses, but it will never go away forever.

My guess is they wanted the new WST to be the new trials that just came out, however they didn't want to spoil that issue 20 was definitely going to be out by that point they announced the WSTs.
Pure speculation on my part though, but I think it makes sense.
I don't think they'll make the new trials a WST - that would be kinda like making the Cathedral of Pain or a Hami Raid the WST, it just wouldn't seem right. Now if you meant the new TFs, then I agree, that's what I was expecting too.

If you look at the crafting list for Incarnate stuff you'll see you can create all the components for the alpha slot powers from the incarnate strands.
Seems like they are giving us 2 options for making the powers now.

After the 18th, will we not be able to obtain Notice of the Well through Weekly Strike Targets? The alternative way to craft the Alpha components for rare and very rare looks extremely expensive and time-consuming.
