I'm running 1680x1050 on my monitor, and doing window_scale chat 1 and then upping the font size from 12 to 13 seems to have fixed the problem for me without messing up any of the other windows.
Now all that needs done is fixing that eyesore classic team UI (looks like the background green mostly needs toned down back to where it was before.)
