Liberty's 7th Anniversary Event Planning and Ideas

Hello Liberty,

As of this moment we do not have any idea what is being thought up or planned by the Dev's or the Community Rep's for the 7 year anniversary event which should be begining April 28th and running through May.

Last Year we attempted a reenactment of the Alpha and Omega strike force with Mothership battles and running Lady Grey TF, but at that time Lady Grey was broke, but everyone still had an amazing time. View link to last year event.

So that was some last minute planning on my part and I would like to try to get something even more amazing happening for all of our fellow liberty players to celebrate our anniversary with a bang. We believe the Dev's are cooking up something but until they announce it we won't know. For Liberty; Keep in mind that we have friends who are heroes and villains so co op zones and no level restrictions would be best ideas.

I am thinking of an Invasion idea of my own, but lets see what you all think.

Okay to start kicking around Ideas for our 7th Anniversary here I present Pre-Emptive strike on Praetoria.

We have an entire co -op zone open to all Heroes and Villains. I was thinking Pre-Emptive Strike Raid on Imperial City. A Joint Task Forces fighting to Nova, Praetor White, and finally to face Cole himself if we could get him to show. Badge hunting, Zone events, Costume contest, etc. The entrance is of course through Pocket D into Studio 55.

I like your idea Doc but min lvl to enter zone is 35 but it is a co op zone

Looking to see what others think.

I like both of these ideas actually. Running a "Seven Hills of Rome" ITF where people use their best Roman-themed, or costumed, characters would be cool for the higher level toons, but also working your way through Praetoria has benefits for those that can't make it into Cimeroa yet. The drawback to the latter is that if you've got a character who's between 21-34, aside from explore, history, and defeat badges, Praetoria doesn't offer much in the way of benefits. However, explore badges do have those nice little reward merits that drop for the accolade badges. Besides, what better way to thumb your nose at Cole than to have a bunch of Primal Earth toons racing through his city?

WOW... 7 years already?... Where has the time gone?

I think multiple types of events... Daily CC's, Parties in Pocket D, Praetorian runs and of course the Alpha/Omega all sound great...

A central theme or multiple themes to capture the masses...

So many ideas and opportunities...

I would really like to do another MASSIVE CC in Boomtown like we did ever so many years ago. Different themes for different days. Maybe one with only using costumes options available at launch or at specific eras throughout CoH's run. Maybe have a "Vanguard Day" where you try out your best Vanguard outfit all the way up to an Animal CC heralding the newest expansion.

If I read the announcement correctly, it appears that we are being asked to create our own events for our servers for our 7th Annversary of City of Heroes.. I am disappointed in the fact that I had asked this question and only now are they finally letting us know that they had not come up with any server event ideas. I am placing a link to what they will be doing today on the actual annv day. 7th Anniversary Announcement LINK Information from link posted below as well.

My only suggestion is that whatever we do be something that everyone can attend/participate in, not just 50's.

My idea would be to have a whole slate of events spread through the month with different volunteers organizing different events. We don't want one person dealing with everything, cuz then they won't get to have as much fun.

So...

C.O.P Raids

1-20 as a teams in Pretoria.

Supergroup/Team contest in Co-Op zone. Put together your bested themed team or SG and let the denizens of Pocket D judge the results. (think FF and/or Avengers)

Ski Races (if we can convince the devs to turn the chalet on)

CC in a CO-OP zone.

Task force Marathon (not co-op I know but a few events that are faction specific won't ruin the overall idea)

Best Character Bio/Origin/Background - everyone interested would submit their toon's background using the restrictions of the character editor. A small group reads them, nominates say their favorite 3 or 4 and then have costume contest to clinch the deal.

Well, if we are going to do anything, we should probably get it going for this weekend. I think 2 good CC's with copious amounts of prizes is a good start. I have fairly limited in-game funds at the moments so and any prospective judges and sponsors would be greatly appreciated. I'll throw out a few ideas and let me know if any of them appeal to folks. I would like to use the CC hall in our base for hosting the finals of certain events. Spectators of course would be welcome.

1. Launch to Capes CC.
This CC would be comprised entirely of participants using parts available from launch all the way up to the release of capes. I know that a comprehensive list of what was available will have to be made but I can handle that myself and post it here if folks are interested in this type of CC. The exceptions would be auras and all of the various "normal" faces.

2. Incarnate CC.
The theme for this CC would be showcasing your best "Incarnate" Outfit. Whatever you think conveys the image of an "ascended" hero or villain. This would be open for Incarnates only and the prizes would have to be suitably huge.

3. Animal CC.
Think this one is fairly self-explanatory. Make or bring your best animal themed toon. All AT's and alignments would be welcome.

4. Group Theme CC
If you and a few friends have an idea that only works when you are all together this would be a good place to strut your stuff.

5. Vanguard CC
Making something unique out of something fairly established always produces interesting results. I would like to see what people come up with for their personal Vanguard Uniform. Could also work for Midnighters or Oroborous.

At any rate, let me know what you guys think and whether or not you would like to participate, be it judge, sponsor or well-wisher.

I think May 7th would be a good time to host these events for obvious reasons.
