Ice/Thorns, Ice/Fire or Ice/Earth?

Of the three, which would be the most effective? I don't have experience with any of these assault sets beyond the first 4-6 levels. How are they comparable in terms of AoE Damage, ST Damage and synergy with Ice/?

I plan to play in melee range and really try and leverage Arctic Air (Gonna slot it with Contagious Confusion)

Of the 3, fire is the most range oriented so technically would have the least amount of synergy with a close in set like ice. The catch there is that fire assault has some of the best damage of all the dom secondaries, so its still pretty good.

I would say either /earth or /thorns would be a good choice. Earth assault will give you the best single target damage in the 2 mallets + seismic smash with somewhat anemic AE damage due to the but slow casting attacks - fissure is ok but not great and tremor is just sad. Thorns would give you decent single target damage and pretty good AE when you combine ripper with fling thorns - even thorn burst isn't that bad, due to the bonus toxic DoT.

From a thematic point of view earth is probably the best - go with the crystal power style and it looks like ice hammers to go with your frost.

I gotta recommend Ice/Fire. Proc up Frostbite, throw it, Fire Breath and Combustion and watch whole packs BURN. Near blaster-level damage, plus full-tilt control, and Consume to help with the rather endurance-heavy ice control set.

Dont underestimate the fact that Thorns does some toxic damage and the fact that there are defense debuffs on pretty much every attack.
