Your own personal firing squad

I had a funny idea that I decided to build on MIDs (badly) just to see if I would ever consider making it. I don't think I will but I felt compelled to post it on the forums. The idea is an Elec/Devices Blaster since both of those sets have a ranged pet you can summon, and then to take a villain epic with pets and make your own little squad of ranged damage. The best mastery on paper to do it with is Scorpion, since you get a great shield that will let you go a S/L def build and also get an AoE immobilize power which 1: accepts a great set for increasing S/L defenses and 2: is a godsend for a soloing Blaster to keep enemies away from you. Also the spiderlings accept the Achiles Heel proc, which I use in this build. I don't care much for Elec Blast so I didn't do very much with it, but the build is a haphazard attempt to get a lot of Recharge, some Def bonuses to S/L Def and Ranged Def, and still have some recovery to run the toggles.

Tell me what you guys think...

How to suck at CoX

I've also thought about a 3 pet blaster, but after remember that 1 of your pets is extremely slow and i think only last 1 or 2 minutes, the other elec one last 1 minute and doesnt do much.. and the 3rd one would be good. so 2 crappy pet that your have to summon all the time. Your epic pool pet is good though.

I've done Elec/Dev for this reason, never followed it up with PPP though.

My advice, it's not worth it. The gun drone sucks up all your endurance and now runs into melee range to die, it only lasts a little while anyway (also, it does about as much damage as burst on attack (Single target) and takes forever to activate)... The only upside is with enough recharge you can summon two of them. Voltaic sentinel is a decent pet, but the resummoning is annoying every minute, and it helps you keep the endurance you're trying to recover from GD down. PPP pets from what i've seen work fine, but won't be up very often.

Also, pets work directly against devices other, usually more powerful gimmick, stealth.
They constantly give you away so you can't use your mines and you can't take advantage of the lower aggro range.

I constantly find myself wishing I'd gone elec/anything else, dev wasnt worth missing BU over. I love volty, but pets just work against devices too much, if gun drone weren't so broken I might feel differently.

I did elec/dev/mu and tried the 3 pets thing out for a bit, had less defense but more recharge than your build so my patron was 5-10s off perma.

On tfs, the turret & patron pet are worthless.

Even solo, they are close to worthless. Might be fun for a casual gamer, but not someone who can afford to throw a few purple sets in there. It's just not going to perform that well. Turret has a lot of potential but, really, the setup just ruins it.

I respecced into a E/N/R capped build, sans turret & patron and went to elec/dev/elec for the flat out better cone & hold.

You must have not tried patron pets then.... because "good" and "patron pet" do not belong in the same sentence.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

They can be solid on a crab, controller or dom with lots of recharge. But, I wouldn't keep them (I have tried them...) on any other combo that I've tested so far.

Honestly, if you want a firing squad, please do yourself a favor and roll a mastermind. Go Mercs/Traps/Mace, and actually enjoy pets that don't stink.

I ran a Fire/MM Blaster and slapped in Mace Mastery for his patron. The result is great!

My build focuses on recharge and defense (Which is why I initially went for the villain patron, since Ice Mastery's defense toggle looks awful), with Hover, Stealth, and Maneuvers adding to defense and having places to slot in LotG: Recharge IOs. The Spiderlings are slotted as Recharge Intensive Pets for now, and it takes a LOT to bring them down. I throw them down like I do for my Ill/Rad controller's Phantom Army power, and they soak up damage while my Blaster uses the Mace Mastery AoE Immob and Rain of Fire, followed by unloading the usual Fire/MM AoE attacks until everything dies.

Using the things as a decoy works very well for using Drain Psyche as well. Combined with a well-slotted World of Confusion toggle, Psychic Shockwave, and nearly softcapped s/l defense, going into melee as an ambush thanks to the stealth pool is a great option.

Too many alts to list.
