Can a /EM blaster solo a AV or GM?

Anyone ever solo an AV on a /em Blaster? If so how? temp powers for -regen?

Many (maybe all?) blaster primaries can solo certain AVs irregardless of the secondary. Until I20 is released it is likely that only /Mental can solo GMs. After I20, it seems possible that other blaster sets may achieve the needed DPS to overcome GM regen rates (although it would still be easier with /Mental).

It may be possible for non /Mental blasters to solo GMs currently with the use of Envenomed Daggers, but I think it is unlikely.

Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.

If you have the portable workbench you can theoretically throw 90 envenomed daggers at a gm, one every ten seconds for fifteen minutes. I should think that this would be plenty to take out most GMs, provided you can also survive their attacks for the same period. Pretty pricey barrier for entry however.

I haven't done it personally, but it could certainly be done. For an AV with no resists you only need 120 DPS or so to kill them. That's well within the abilities of pretty much any blaster primary. So as long as you can survive the incoming damage, which shouldn't be too hard with ranged softcap and hover, then you'll be fine. /EM might even have an advantage due to boost range. You might be able to actually attack the AV from outside their range and not even have to worry about incoming damage (note that I don't actually know if this is possible or not, I'm just speculating).

Now for GMs, you're unlikely to be able to solo one with damage only. I won't say it's impossible, because I think it's been done a time or two, but it's EXTREMELY difficult. At least an order of magnitude moreso than soloing an AV on damage only. I suspect if anything could do it it would be fire/em or sonic/em.

You wouldn't have nearly enough recipe inventory for this, however, not even if you stored some in e-mails. At most you can hold 54 between inventory and e-mails, however you would also need to hold the salvage for them. With a maximum salvage storage capacity of 85 (plus e-mail storage for extra salvage), the most you could hope to craft in battle would be 34.

But that would still be silly.

Uhhh, do you realize I was suggesting crafting a grand total of three envenomed dagger recipes? You don't get one dagger per recipe, you get thirty.

just thought i'd put this out there. This post made me chuckle to myself. I would have never thought of doing that.

W/enough insps & temps, anyone can solo AVs and likely GMs too. Throw enough Shivans, Nukes, etc at a problem and it'll go away. 12 large purp insps (and 4 large greens for backup) and you too can have relatively easy def cap for 12 min.

No insp/temps and you'll have to be selective about which AVs, and pick up Ice Armor and cap your S/L def (so, you know, pick AVs that do S/L damage; I don't think melee def will work because of PBAoE damage). Add Med pool for the odd lucky hit and you're set. If not */EM or */Dev, cap your ranged def instead, spam your immob (or Hover) and blast from range. Your DPS might be a bit lower w/o blapping, but then the incoming damage will be lower too, and you don't have to worry so much about cherry picking your opponents.

Never crafted one myself, so I had forgotten how many were given per craft. Also I'm dumb.

D'oh!

My Arch/EM soloed Marauder w/o temps or insps; wasn't too hard, just pack enough DPS and don't get dead. With insps and limited temps, could solo through most of the Praetorian AVs that don't have 50% lethal resistance, and hardcore temp power abuse could probably let you 'solo' those too.

GMs are impossible without either /mental or a helluva lot of envenomed daggers, but those are sort of outside the standard range of hero ability in any case.

Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.
