For fire-based farming, you should still try to get your fire defenses up even though you have capped resistance. Taking 1% damage is much better than taking 10%.
For Fire AE farming I use a SO only SS/Fire/Mu Brute build. Then i just keep creating/eating purps and oranges, with my def and res to fire always displayed. Beyond that it is just hit one AoE after another and laugh until the boredom sets in. Then I go do something else. I built the farmer to make money in a closet, not to cost me money.

My Fire/Fire/Energy does whatever I want.
Main tank the ITF? Sure.
Herd the Patrons? Sure.
Tank LR? Sure.
Main Tank Tin Mage? Sure.
Main Tank Apex? Sure.
Run farm maps like a John Deere? Sure.
Exemp down and still destroy everything in the way? Sure.
With the recent Alpha slot, Fire got a big boost. If you invest in it, the toon will not disappoint.
I recommend getting a concept and a costume you like. I find it helps.

Would you mind posting up your build? I thought about dropping a few others things a tad to get my E/N def up a bit more, but not sure the best way to go about it (ITF Nictus/Shades can hurt my feelings if I'm not careful). I could at least get some slotting ideas for the Fiery Aura Res stuff that way.
I have a little over 1b sitting on the toon now, and another billion I could put in him if needed. I wouldn't want to put much more than 2b in the toon though...He already has all the LoTG and 3 sets of Kinetic Combat in the SG base table, as well as the uniques.
Blue - I hear what you're saying..but at a certain point what are you getting the money for? May as well put some of that investment back into the toon.
