You could fit more global recharge in the build if you aim for 32.5% defenses instead. More global recharge usually equals more DPS. That puts you one small purple inspiration from the soft cap, and usually you won't need it.
If you are going for melee defense instead of S/L through Divine Avalanche, Kinetic Combats are not a good choice. Mako sets would get you there with less slots used.
You probably don't need as many attacks as you have. Work out an attack chain. The top DPS ones usually only use 3 attacks, but require perma-Hasten levels of recharge. A lower DPS chain might use 4 attacks. The attack at the top of the list is usually the lowest single target DPS attack available, so definitely skip it.
Do you need Teleport, or was it just to fill the last power slot? A real travel power would be better. Teleport is slow without range enhancements.
Not a lot different with mine than Exx, but different flavors here and there. I just went for ENFC and got the S/L up, didn't worry about positional so much. Like his, one DA smack and you can sit there eating a sandwich. Heck, you might be able to without it.
I'm building this currently as a second build that can ghost missions, and took the advice of Hyperstrike1 here and didn't slot for rech, and just LotGed the thing.

Both of the builds I can see (no Mid's on my work comp) have HPT slotted with resistance sets instead of slotted for heal.
Increasing your max HP is going to do more for your survivability than a few percent defense, especially on teh build that has Aegis slotted there. Pure Fire and Cold damage is among the rarest types in the game, most of the time they are paired with smashing or lethal, especially in the case of Cold.
If you can't spare the slots to slot for healing AND resistance, you'll get better results out of slotting for healing.
(Note: I can't see the builds that are just data chunks, so I'm only referring to the ones I CAN see)

Here's my try at it.
Good enough recharge for the general katana chain, 1 DA gets you to over 45 lethal, e/n is at 45, f/c is just over 35, and you have SoW and Shmeld to fall back on (especially useful when fighting enemies with -def).
It carries plenty of endurance and 2182 hp, about 227 from cap.
The accuracy versus +4s isn't perfect, but it's pretty close.
Also, I didn't include any alpha buffs, so any of those would work as well (I'd go with either nerve or spiritual.)
Only used one purple set, because anything else in GC just isn't the same.

^Professional Katana/regen build thread
Here is where mine is going. I haven't had the chance to respec him yet, but everything is mainly the same, I just haven't updated him since Fitness went Inherent. I also will update some of the IO levels to increase their effectiveness, and have been debating going with Musculature for a nice little increase in damage output or Spiritual for more recharge and a bit of HP boost.

Thanks for all your feedback. There are some very nice builds there.
As I first mentioned, I was in a bit of a quandry as to whether to focus on typed or positional defense.... at least as far as melee or smashing/lethal was concerned. Typed defense was the natural way to go for E/N/F/C.
According to Mids, replacing the set of Aegis in HPT will net me about 120 hp. It's a respectable amount, but it'd drop my defense to F/C from 44.2% (with the alpha slotted). I'm not sure it'd be a good tradeoff, even though, as Claws mentioned, pure fire/cold is pretty rare. It may well become less so in future content.
I was wondering what the best level of accuracy to aim for is, and how the damage output is going to be? How much recharge is needed for the optimum attack chain. How much is needed for a "respectable" one? I was taking a look at Iggy's willpower build. Mids shows his Golden Dragonfly doing over 425 hp damage per activation. I couldn't figure out how he got it so high.

On accuracy: If you change your tohit values to 39~
Options - configuration - examping & Base Values - Base Tohit (switch to 39)
This will give you the tohit values you have versus +4s. You want this to be right around 95%. Anything over this won't be noticed/helpful unless you're fighting something higher than +4 (which would be a bit extreme), or when you're debuffed.
Iggy might have had build up turned on in that build, or a gaussian proc was turned on. I'm looking at my katana build and it does right over 423 damage with the gaussian [boost up] proc turned on (without BU active). I don't have his build, however, so I cannot verify, only speculate.
With Willpower, typed defenses are definitely the way to go, and I think that hp gain for defense is probably worth it.
Unfortunately I don't have the values of recharge for the katana chains saved, but the general two are:
DA - GC - GD - GC - SD - GC (which is fairly light on recharge).
GD - GC - SD - GC (no DA stacking, but the damage output is much higher, requires a much higher recharge as well)
I hate to be the bringer of bad news... but Willpower sucks!!! you're better off rolling a regen

I´ve done some more fiddling...
I´ve added maneuvers to the build, giving another spot for LotG recharge. I´ve removed sting of the wasp; it was only being used as a mule for a set of kinetic combats. I moved a slot over to combat jumping to slot the kismet unique for the extra accuracy against tough opponents.
The accuracy´s not perfect, but Golden Dragon´s got about 92% to hit against +4, that´s good enough for me.
I still think i´m gonna keep the aegis set in high pain tolerance, but I´ll be getting the spiritual rare alpha slotted. It´ll put me at 2154 hp, just 50 hp or so than if i slotted 2 heal IO´s in it. I think it seems like an ok tradeoff.

Made a few minor tweaks to it. I don't like kismet in CJ because sometimes you forget to turn it on. Kismet isn't a global buff, so it does actually matter where you slot it. So I always throw it in a power like IW that will (or should) always be on, no exceptions.
When going for typed defenses, gaussian isn't that great of a set. Sure it covers all the types and positions, but the slots per defense gain isn't very great. So, I flipped it out of BU, leaving it with enough recharge to be up for every 5th attack sequence (You should also have the recharge to run that longer chain, by the way, even excluding that last GC at the end, unless I am tehsuckzorz at the basic math)
Those slots went into hasten, for another rech IO, and petrifying gaze, for a bit more recovery, and a recharge set bonus. (Knocking a large chunk out of hasten's downtime between the two). The last slot went to maneuvers to help make up the small defense loss, I think the numbers still look fine (with your IOs being lvl 30, e/n was pushed to 44.9, rather than over 45 if they were higher, but that's probably fine).
In Gambler's Cut, that mako quad is usually the IO I would throw in with a kinetic combat set, however, you don't need anymore recharge in the power, as its recharge is already well under the cast time of all your other attacks. Instead I replaced it with a nucleolus for a better accuracy and damage enhancement, the two things it really does need.
I would take SJ (or even assault) instead of res, but that's more of a personal thing, and I definitely understand why you would do so.
Lastly, you had an end/rech in fast healing... I imagine that was supposed to be a heal/rech and just ended up as a missclick.

Sounds like some definate improvements.

Hi all.
I´m gonna get back to leveling my katana/WP scrapper after a rather long break from him. My goal is to get a very survivable build without the use of purples or expensive pvp recipies.
I have played around with katana before... divine avalanche is absolutely amazing. It really improves the survivability of pretty much any secondary. My only problem with it being that it boosts defense to lethal and melee damage.
Which leads me on to my question. On a katana/WP scrapper, is it best to go for positional or typed defense?
I have put together a build. Am I on the right track? Can I improve the overall defenses? Is it possible to squeeze in the achilies heal -res proc somewhere?
