Okay, pretty new to the game, kind of jumped in with both feet by picking a dominator but I'm happy with my choice...just not sure I'll be happy with my choices! Note I am playing partners with one other corruptor, am about to lvl to lvl 8:

- Mesmerize, flares
- Dominate
-Medicine Heal other (May have picked this too soon)
-Fire Breath

Plan for future:

Telekinesis
Total Domination
Mass Confusion (Would like to take Terrify but that's probably too much)

Fiery Embrace
Consume (Thus will not take Stamina)

Concealment Stealth
Flight Fly

Im finding my biggest problem may knowing when to pick what. What do you think?

Dont take telekinesis, get confuse, terrify is awesome so id get that, and stamina is inherent so you get it no matter what.

Some other highlights are incinerate, blaze (you HAVE to get this at 38), fire blast. And welcome to the game, i hope you like your mind/fire. Its a great combo.

"I have ridden the mighty moon worm!"
-Al Gore
Fiery Aura is only good for farming, I'm cereal

Not sure what you mean by 'that's probably too much'... There's nothing wrong with taking all 9 mind powers. None of them are bad, really... Though TK can be situational.

As for Stamina, you get it automatically. You might find that Consume is overkill with Stamina and Domination refilling your blue bar.

IMO, the powers I would take from Mind are:

Mesmerize
Levitate
Dominate
Confuse
Mass Hypnosis
Total Domination
Terrify
Mass Confusion

From Fire, I would take:

Flares
Fire Breath
Fire Blast
Embrace of Fire
Combustion
Blaze

Then fill in your travel power, any other pools you want and top it off with the /Ice epic and take Sleet at 41.

My first(and main) is also a Mind/Fire. It's a great combo.

General consensus is that Telekinesis is pretty skipable. I must admit, I have never used it myself, but I've never seen anyone else in game that that uses it either.

I went all the way to 50 with Levitate, but found that there were way too many enemies it straight up didn't work on: Most Elite Bosses, Heroes, AVs, and anything that's really big(like giant Malta Group robots you start to encounter late game). I have since respecced out of it, and very glad I did.

I originally had Total Domination as well, but felt its recharge was too long to make it really useful. Take Mass Hypnosis in its place as an emergency lockdown or as an opener if you ever play solo.

Definitely don't pass up on Terrify! It's one of the main powers Mind/ has to offer. It does AoE damage as well. The downside is that it can be a bit of an aggro magnet, so you have to be careful of when you use it.

I highly recommend everything in /Fire, with the possible exception of Blazing Bolt. I like it(and use it), but most players tend to hate snipes due to their long activation times.

Wyatt does raise a valid point regarding Consume, but only if you go with the Cardiac Incarnate path late game(which would improve your endurance recovery). I went the Nerve path for its Accuracy, Hold and Confuse bonuses, so I find that Consume does come in handy during longer fights.

He was totally right about Blaze, though. You'll love it when you finally get it.

I'm going to disagree with him regarding your choice in Ancillary Power Pools. Take one of the Villain Epic pools so you can get a pet! Mind/ is the only type of Dominator that doesn't get a pet, based on the fact that the devs felt that having two confuse powers would make having one a little overpowered. It's mostly justified, but if you ever find yourself alone with an Elite Boss, you'll definitely want some backup. I went the Soul Mastery path, and I love my Fortunata.

Mind/ is such a great set with so many tools that whatever playstyle you want to use with your secondary is totally viable.

And welcome to the game!

Firstly, welcome to the game. We're glad to have you!

Secondly, Mind/Fire is the sort of build that can solo AVs and entire TFs and SFs (Task Forces and Strike Forces) by itself, especially with proper IO (Invention Origin enhancements, which give bonuses) slotting.

The only four powers that I, personally, would consider worth skipping are Blazing Bolt, Fire Breath, Telekinesis, and Total Domination in order of worst to best.

Blazing Bolt is a snipe, so Blasters are going to get better use out of the power anyway, and you can do a lot better with your power choices.

Fire Breath has a long animation time. What this means for a non-number cruncher is that you'll be stuck standing there for a pretty long time, which gives enemies a plot of time to run around.

Telekinesis is a power that pushes back a larger group of enemies, but it does so in a way that makes the power difficult to use effectively unless you are in an indoor mission and have an uncanny eye for geometry when using the power to push enemies against walls (they tend to slide unless the power is dead on).

Total Domination, when used my a Dominator with Power Boost, is a very strong powerset. With a /Fire Dominator, it isn't worth picking up unless you have no other power options that make sense.

Get every other power in the primary and secondary if you can, plus Hasten, and when you earn a lot of infamy I'd start slotting IOs with recharge bonuses.

Too many alts to list.
