Ice/Elec Tanks, best tanks for common teaming?

Let me start off by saying I have a lvl 50 ice/elec tank. What i'm going to be talking about is a ice/Elec tank at lvl 50.

An Ice tank with his ice shields, weave and combat jumping can reach a def of 42% for S/L and energy/negative energy. Put 1 steadfast +3 def all and you'll soft caped def for 4 different types of dmg, and those dmg's being the most common in the game.

What makes Ice great; it never runs out of Endo, and when fighting a big mob you only get stronger. Instant Aggro when you walk into a mob. You have res to def debuffs, -14% dmg on targets that are close to you and -recharge so they attack less. Dull Pain for max HP on your tank, and you can be in hibernate with a mob around you and not lose aggro, including AVs. You can put 5 differnet dmg procs in your aruas. Best thing is, Ice doesn't need more def, so you can slot more recharge and easily slot 70+ extra recharge bonus plus incarnate recharge too.

What makes Elec great with ice amour, Elec is great because of aggro cap, When you past aggro cap all you need to do is hit build up and lightning rod, useally kills all the minions it hits. So you can taunt more people to you instead of your team. It's true that lightning rod is a long recharge, but you can get it down to 25 seconds if your willing to put some sets and get incarnate. Lightning rod hits up to 16 NPCs and has a very large AoE Range. You can also slot a +recharge proc in your Thunder Strike or Lightning Rod attack. Why choose Elec over SS? cause I hate rage crash, that's why.

Main reason why I think ice/elec is so great, because for fast pace teams it can keep up hold aggro and kill fast, no need to taunt or have rage crash.

My lvl 50 ice/elec/fire tank stats
I have 49 def to S/L and 47.3 def to Energy and negative energy.
90% extra recharge
7 Dmg procs in my AoE Powers.
HP cap with dull pain on.

Good to hear you having fun playing a pretty uncommon pairing.

Best for "common teaming"? No. No tanker can be considered best for this very subjective/general definition.

Best for you? Probably, seeing as you're having fun and that's all that matters in the end.

While I agree that the best tank is the one you like to play and can play effectively, I can see Ice/Elec being pretty strong for that...

I spent a few minutes putting together a build, and easily hit Def softcap S/L/E/N (w/o relying on Energy Absorption), HP cap (with perma-Hoarfrost), and perma-Hasten (using 3 purple sets but not relying on Force Feedback: Chance for +Rech). However resists are still pretty weak, so I'd have to remember to bring Oranges and use Wedding Band/Eye of the Magus appropriately - probably only when def isn't enough AND the enemies are KD-resistant. There are some other perks in the build, enough that I'll have to tweak it and put it in my "reserve" list for my next possible toon.

Thanks for the suggestion, iMidget Perfection! I'd been looking for a suitable secondary for Ice/, and you just gave it to me.

Current primary characters, all on Guardian:
The Amber Fist (Elec/Stone Tanker) | Pixelbeater (Fire/Kin Corr) | The Sequencer (Bots/Traps MM)
Blakkat (Claws/Dark Brute) | Mhogus'thra (Ill/Dark Cont) | Wyldhunt (Beast/Dark MM)

Hey man. I love my Ice Tank and really wanted to make another one (3 Ice/SS tank so far...dont ask. I also leveled up a SS/Fire Brute. I love SS with rage, FS and KB. But I am all rage-crashed out.

For some reason I hadn't thought of electric secondary....I dont know why.

Thanks for squarely placing in my vision!!!!

Loading up Mids now to see if like the build combo.
