Computer rebooting when trying to click on Server

For the past week or so, I've been getting an issue.
I am pretty sure this new issue predates the NCSoft launcher, but I get the issue when using the NCSoft launcher as well.

Steps to reproduce (with launcher since that's how I run it now):
Open NCSoft Launcher
Click on City of Heroes, then Play Now
Loads COH in the background
Click on COH window, username is already filled in
Type in password and click Log In
Click Accept to the new User Agreement
Click on Freedom (which is my last used server and at the top of the list)

Computer freezes, reboots within 15 seconds

Anyone else experiencing this? It's getting very frustrating. After the reboot, I can usually do the exact same steps (except I'll get the User already logged on message) and then get in fine.

Just for the sake of it...

Check your CityofHeroes directory for another folder with your account name on it.
Rename it temporarily and try to log back in again.
If it allows you to log in normally, then you probably had a corrupted playerslot.txt (or other) file in that directory.

Crashing after selecting a server was a very common issue after i12, and seems to have been slowly making it's way back for some people (there have been a few recent threads mentioning it). I recommend letting the client make a fresh copy of the playerslot.txt file and then make it "read-only" to prevent any possible corruption later.

thanks, I do have a custom playerslot configuration. I've moved it to another directory and let the game create it again.

Is there an issue with having a custom character placement or can I change the placement again and then lock it to read only?

I think the issue is just constant read/write interaction from the client that eventually messes it up for some reason. Strange thing is I can't purposely duplicate the issue. Some people run into problems while some never had an issue. And so it lives on! lol

Anyway, go ahead and change you placement around to create a new file, then lock it so it wont get disturbed. That's what I did. Just remember you'll have to unlock it to make changes for new toons later.

My wife is experiencing a similar problem - the game freezes when she selects a server, requiring a trip to the task manager to end the game.

However, it doesn't reboot the computer, and shows the same "account already logged in" whether the computer itself is rebooted or not, when logging in again.

Any ideas?
