blaster and dom, defense or resistance?

hey all, i have a arch/fire blaster and wanted to know which way should i go? defense or resistance. at the moment i have about 25% defense to melee and range with about 50% resistance to s/l. i notice this works well but, i can get hit alot. would gettin about 15% resistance to s/l and 40% defense to s/l be better?
i use this toon as a blapper sometimes, i cycle through my powers and run in for my melee atttacks and in closed spots, i want to be able to handle melee.

then theres my dominator. shes always in melee with 40% defense to s/l and 12% to s/l resistance...i rarely get hit but when i do damn does it hurt ! would reversing the numbers be more helpful?

RED CAP DAGGERS: if you want them red side on infinity, send a pm i have the mission to get them for dual blades.

In general Defense is more useful to Blasters and Dominators characters than resistance since a single defense tpye will cover more attacks than a resistance types and you can stack it more easily.

I'd the biggest reason defense has more of an impact is an attack avoided can't land mezzes

If the dominator has reached perma-dom, mez isn't an issue, and they should be able to lock down most of the spawn, most of the time. At this point, you could go with either def or res to try to block the big hits that come through, but I'd probably go def anyways. Especially if I could get it to the softcap.

For a blaster, there's only two choices, IMO: More def, or Rise of the Phoenix.
