Stealth Suppression Working?

This may be just me, but has there been a stealth change to...well, stealth? I Was running some missions with my AR/Dev, and was having run-of-the-mill captives follow me pretty well w/o having to detoggle Cloaking Device. I also noticed an arrow on the map which indicated a roving stealth supressor (I forget the exact name of the entity).

Is this new, or have I just been really unobservant? I swear I'd never seen this running my Grav/Storm (Steamy Mist), Ill/TA (Sup Invis), or KM/EA (Energy Cloak) (no Sister Jocasta, I AM NOT FORGETTING SOMEONE IMPORTANT!)

You can tell when you are in range of [Negative Stealth] when it shows up in your buff icons:

That has been in the game since Issue 9. I think what makes you notice it now is because we didn't have the extra mini-map icons before. I'm not sure the invisible entity is even supposed to show up on the map, and most times it wont... but there are some circumstances that make the mini-map very buggy and pretty much everything will show up on the map, including CoT crystals, jail cells and the teleport suppression around each of them.

That's probably all you saw... not a bug or change with stealth, but a bug with the mini-map. lol

Edit:
I'm just here to say it has been there for a while. As for the Negative Stealth actually being effective.. that's another story. People have had mixed results with it. Some hostages seem to ignore stealth completely, while others have to rely on their perception to see through your stealth, so detoggling would still be necessary in those circumstances.

Hmm, I haven't try to escort anything without detoggling all my stealth powers recently. Negative stealth didn't work in i19 and earlier. Maybe something was fixed in i19.5 though.

I was wondering the same thing also. I thought that in missions that {stealth suppression} meant that the critters saw you and you don't have to detoggle.

Bug?

The only thing Stealth suppression should be doing is suppressing your stealth when you're near your escort. It's like clicking a glowie. You can't be invisible to foes while guiding an escort.

That being said, some escorts are actually helper-allies that act like pets and don't cause Stealth suppression and can see you when you're stealthed.

Maybe in the case you described, the Stealth Suppression Sprite was lagging behind and not doing its job.

I know the idea behind it has been around for a while, but for non-combat NPCs (like the police kidnapped by Nemesis or Carnies/Knives) and some combat NPCs (Sister Jocasta won't see me, but Longbow captive will) I've usually had to detoggle. Otherwise even though I have the negative stealth icon, if I get more than ten feet ahead of them they'll stop following me and cry "WHERE'D YOU GO??" It's always bothered me, because even though you'd be seen by ambushes anyway, dropping the toggle will sacrifice a bit of defense.

Yesterday I ran the mission where you have to rescue "citizens" from Crey and they all followed me just fine. Didn't detoggle, didn't slow down. Maybe it's just that it works for this mission and I hadn't run it in a while (30-40 range).

I ran mayhem mission last night.

I had to detoggle SS and sprint(with Stealth IO) during kidnap side mission in order to make hostie follow me. He would refuse to follow me when either of toggles was on.
