/SR Scrapper or /SR Brute? Best primary for /SR?

Hello, I just got my FM/SR Brute to 50 and he is basically immortal. The only real problem I have is how boring FM seems to me. I also do not like FSC all that much. It is a very strong set since DoTs increase with fury, but honestly, most stuff dies so fast it does not matter much normally.

I am wondering if a scrapper might be better overall and do considerably more damage. I know brutes get more health, but is it that much more where it would be paramount?

I also can't really decide on a primary. I like claws and I am thinking claws might be the right choice, but I also like super strength. I just keep having a nagging feeling about lethal damage being resisted so much. I am open to other options though except dark melee. I want something with more aoe honestly. I would not mind a spines/sr, but both of those seem to be end hogs and that might end up being very annoying lol. I was also possibly thinking KM/SR scrapper since KM would kinda give me a feeling of foot stomp with burst, but I dunno for sure. Thanks a lot for any opinions or info!

KM only has one worthwhile AOE so, if that's your bag, I'm not sure how satisfying you'll find it. I enjoy playing my KM/SR scrapper but he doesn't come close to my SD/WM tank for AOE damage (and he's hardly at the top of the AOE heap himself compared to some ATs/Sets).

Burst isn't bad but I don't find myself in awe of it. I really view my scrapper as a ST fighter who can either eliminate or mitigate whatever minions are trying to pick away at him while he fights the big guys.

I don't like Fire melee either - simply not enough smash. If this is part of the boredom factor for you, have you considered War Mace? It's a very visceral set. And good AoE as well.

SR goes fine on either brute or scrapper - your choice will mostly be dictated by your primary's availability.

Yes, I believe that is a major part of the boredom factor. I know it does great damage, but I am starting to Yawn when I play him lol. I seriously love /SR though and I have never had a more survivable brute. My first thought was to go claws/sr but I think those would bore me also since they do not really smash much either. They do make cool sounds and animations though I guess.

I made a wm/sr and I do enjoy the heavy hitting smash attacks. I just have two right now and man are they slow to recharge, but I know that will get better eventually and with more attacks. I am going to try and stick with this wm/sr and see how it goes!

PS: I kinda stopped wanting to make a /sr scrapper when I saw the horrible difference in when I get my /sr powers. It is bad enough with a brute, but I would have to wait even longer to soft cap with a scrapper YIKES! (But then again I would have no taunt aura and I would not actually be the tank, so I guess it would not matter technically.

I personally love my WM/SD brute - it's just so satisfying to bring down [Shatter] on several enemies at once and hear that bone-cringing CRUNCH! And then you get your wide-as-a-city-bus Crowd Control.

Of course, you could make a Bane as well, but they notably do not get any DDR and Shatter is single target.

My personal preference for an /SR is Claw.

There are a number of reasons, but three stand out. The first is that Claw's inherently low endurance costs mesh well with end-hungry SR; I'm able to run Focused Accuracy full-time on my Claw/SR and be end sustainable in my single-target attack chain. Also, Claw has the ability to slot four different purple sets in its primary (Melee, Ranged, PBAoE, Targeted AoE). Since softcapping an /SR is relatively easy, there is a LOT of room to build for offense, and being able to slot multiple purple sets with their recharge bonuses and procs makes you a hyperspeed Cuisinart.

The third reason, though, is the most important, and that is Shockwave. Especially when soloing, Shockwave is an unbeatable mitigation tool, and it does very nice damage at that. As an /SR, reducing the number of enemies attacking you at any given time is the single best way to augment your defenses; even at the softcap, 5% (and sometimes more) of incoming attacks will hit you, and enemies flat on their back are enemies that aren't attacking. Combined with Focus, Claw has strong (and reliable) knockback/knockdown to neutralize dangerous foes.

On top of this, /SR's speed bonus (via Quickness) and Shockwave's large cone make setting up the attack relatively painless. With just Sprint running, my Claw/SR's run speed is over 47mph.

Claw/SR, at least in my experience, produces a kind of frenetic, madcap playstyle that feels more "super" than anything else I've ever played in the game.

It's a whole lot of fun.
