My solution for FSAA + Ultra Mode = Crash
I don't get crashes running EVGA precision with my GTX 260 under 266.58
H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster
CoH in WQHD
Do you use it with the On-Screen display?
I turn that on and CRASH
Thank you!
OMG THANK YOU!
My game was working find yesterday and today I'm crashing and locking up I couldn't figure it out. I started up that Rivatuner Overlay to keep track of my FPS, (Program never worked anyway) and thats what was causing it
My problem was the damn program didn't want to turn off. I'd turn it off and it pop right back up again. Ended up having to rename the .exe
Thank you so much!
I have read a few threads vilifying EVGA Precision (for that same reason), truly it should move to the Rogue Isles and meet with Kalinda, become one of her "Projects" while accepting it's status as a 'Destined One.'
My point: This or another thread should likely be stickied (if one has not already) because people keep having the same problem and it would save some frustration.
The somewhat archaic and incomplete "Known Issues: Live" (last updated 11/30/10) could stand to have this added as well.
Edit -If your not aware already, /Showfps 1 and /Showfps 0 in game will turn on a monitor for your FPS. I dont care for where it shows up on screen, it does however work.
I can confirm that this too fixed my problem. As soon as I turned-off EVGA Precision, I too was able to tweak certain settings again.
This is the first time I've had issues with the eVGA tools. I've poked-around the EVGA tools to try and turn the on-screen component off, but I can't seem to deactivate it even though everything appears to be set properly. I'll look into it more later-on sometime - for now I'm just happy the problem is resolved.
Thank you all for this thread. After a week of wrangling with a support ticket for many of the same crashing issues, i finally found this thread. The EVGA Precision application does seem to be the primary culprit.
I checked my settings against what Support gave me as a solution but found that my EVGA Precision settings were already at what they had suggested as a solution. So per this thread I turned it off.
Crossing my fingers, but so far none of my crashing issues have appeared today (through replication/testing). My only concern is looking for an alternative way to control my GPU fans. Going to research that tonight.

I've been plagued with crashes on EVGA 295GTX but, I don't generally run EVGA Precision, but the program is on my machine. I've never used the overlay.
Does EVGA Precision have a idle/background setting?
Ok, so I recently reactivated my account after a long break and decided to try the new ultra mode and see what everything looked like only to find that whenever I touched the FSAA Slider my client would crash....
I have my system always updated, even so, I re-installed the latest directx, video drivers (currently using 266.58), and some other stuff but nothing worked.
So I decided to track down the issue and started with safe mode again.... set my resolution to 1920x1200 (native) and tried to touch the FSAA slider then CRASH.
I though that since everything was down to a minimun and my system is running perfectly fine with any other game there might have been something else causing the crash and the only thing I was running on my background only to see my temps and Fan speed on my screen is the EVGA precision utility, I always have it running so I tried the game again BUT this time I closed the EVGA precision and guess what? NO CRASH. YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!, it was the EVGA all the time
I hope this helps anyone having the same issue, perhaps the same issue applies to the ATI folks as well if they're using some other app.
Go ahead and try and post your results.
Cheers!
