Elec/Fire vs Fire/Elec

For concept reasons, I'm building one of these. Anyone have any experience with either, maybe break down the pros/cons of each?

i have a elec/fire dom, but wish she was fire/fire....

Elec control is fun but static field doesnt work if with the dot of the fire powers so u can only really rely on it to set up with the confuse which does take some time.
The hold isnt brilliant either, without domination it is very short. Then gremlins on a dom....just a waste of time.
Fire assualt is brilliant though, really high dmg.
If i could choose again, id go fire/fire.

Good point on the Sleep-Fire lack of synergy. How about Synaptic, Jolting and the Gremlins combining with Fire's fast dam? I'm really committed to one of these 2 builds, and /Elec is kind of blah.

jolting is a waste of time on a dom, its not worth wasting power slots and the dmg from gremlins is pathetic, they cause SO much aggro. Makes being a dominator harder.
they are the onl 2 powers and the single target immob i didnt choose.
Synaptic is one ur best powers, it just takes a while for it to set up.

I'm quite surprised about the general dislike of Gremlins on the boards. To me they're fine, a nice bit of extra DPS and Control via knockdown. Firmly middle of the pack pets for me, better than Fly Trap or Phantasm, worse than Singy or Fire Imps.

They do cause aggro, or rather them chasing the huge number of runners we have in this game can, but thats what Elec Fences is for.

Jolting Chain to me is a fine throw-away power (with some interesting PROC options) but the Gremlins make it obsolete really (the animation is annoyingly long). Being able to knock down an entire spawn is handy as another layer of soft control though occasionally.

I've got BOTH, and I'd have to agree that Fire/Elec is an overall stronger combination, albeit reluctantly. My Elec/Fire is a blast, and it makes LIBERAL use of Jolting Chain, so much so that I've got it slotted for extra recharge.

Elec/Fire lacks synergy with the added DoT messing up Synaptic Field, but I've found that Jolting Chain is an excellent means of keeping them from retaliating. For me, it goes Synaptic Field, Electric Cages, Jolting Chain, Combustion, then Jolting Chain again. Keeping in melee that way is extremely easy, and Conductive Aura in conjunction with Jolting Chain and Synaptic Field ensures enemies are sapped down to the dregs.

It doesn't have the best synergy, but I haven't run into anything short of an EB much that I couldn't solo. I'm looking forward to Gremlins for the added energy drain.

I'd like to point out that you likely won't be able to sap an EB or AV into submission. Their recovery times are just crazy. If you want to take out an AV, your best bet is probably a Mind/Fire/Fire.

Fire/Elec, on the other hand, is pretty straightforward. You stun things with Flashfire, Immobilize them with Fire Cages, then run in with your imps and mess things up. If anything survives being stunned, you slap it with a hold. Permadom, it's nearly invincible. I'd wager it could give a Mind/Fire a run for its money in some ways, though the new Fire Epic honestly gives anything/Fire insane damage these days.
