It's a strong defensive set that's very easy to soft cap to all three positions. Also combining Shields with Super Strength makes for some great damage buff stacking. Against all Odds + Rage leads to some nice orange numbers for a Tanker. Then when you combine the AOE goodness of Shield Charge and Foot Stomp with those damage buffs, you are rolling.
Ahh, Rage... The single biggest reason why I will never use Super Strength on a Defense-based set...
To that end, and to be fair... A friend had me run a Mids build with my suggestions for his own Shield/SS tank, and... I must say, I was rather impressed with the potential.
I built mine to 55% defense to all positions (well, 54% to AoE). When I have a Rage crash, I'm only down to 35%...which probably doesn't matter anyway, Rage is back up before it crashes, so I can click it again and I'm still at 55% (yeah-yeah 45%).
SD/SS is one of my favorites!! XD

If you stack Rage you avoid the Defense crash, you can't however avoid the -damage and End crash.
