Go for WP.
The Rage crash will be a lot more painful for SR: lowering defences and hardly any resistance or regen - ouch!
With WP you won't have to run from the fight when Rage crashes.
You don't have to with SR either so long as you stack rage. Stacking it allows you to bypass the -def aspect. Regardless of that though the -9999% damage debuff is still there.

On that note, and even with that in mind, I still say go WP. A S/L soft capped WP brute with all that regen layerd on is an amazing amazing amazing sight to behold.
And yes, it is expensive as hell what with the need of 3-4 sets of Kinetic Combats.

Which would all around be better (and cheap would be nice)?
