Game Redownloads

Hi, I've just downloaded the game. There's the folder about 3.7GB size. And the game run i think prompted for settings, said my videocard could handle ultra so I picked Ultra settings but then game didn't start. Now whenever I start Updater, it just starts downloading everything again. What can I do about this? Running the game exe doesn't work either.

Try going into the folder and deleting the coh checksum file. This should get it to verify what it has downloaded.

Also, what OS are you using?

Running the game exe directly will not work, but you can make A shortcut to it, then edit the shortcut by adding " -project coh" to the target line, both without the quotes and outside any quotation marks already in the target line. If that does or does work, let usknow

You just need to run the cohupdater.exe file

depending on your version of Windows and version of the game this will be located at:

US
C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.exe
C:\Program Files(x86)\City of Heroes\cohupdater.exe

EU
C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\cohupdater.eu.exe
C:\Program Files\City of Heroes(x86)\cohupdater.eu.exe

For a full listing of graphics cards that are capable of running Ultra Mode, please see this thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=248474

Thanks for replies. Jut for info OS is Win XP. And exe names in game folder have no "eu" in them.

For some reason, when I run the updater in that game folder,"cohupdater.exe", no checksum happens. But when I run the first file which was downloaded from the site on my desktop, "cohupdater.eu.exe", it did verify and now game runs. I also deleted "coh checksum" file, dunno if it helped this "eu" file but the other update exe in game folder definitely doesnt verify. You also need to select the folder your "City of Heroes" folder is in.

So basically if you encounter this problem, use the downloader/updater you got from site, not the one in game folder.

Ah, if you are an EU player and you ran the updater in the folder and it lacked the .eu, that would cause it to try to redownload - without that eu it tried to luanch the US/NA version.

IIRC you can add in the .eu to the updater file in the folderif you end up needing to use that later to connect.

OMG!!! You are right, just renaming the updater in the game folder from "cohupdater.exe" to "cohupdater.eu.exe" does the trick!!! What kind of programmer did this, I would never imagine the name of a file would have something to do with the system of the program, very absurd Even if so, it should have renamed itself...
