To use the Vill arc power set, do you have to completely switch to vill or just to a vigalanty? Thinking the vill arc would be more helpful in PvP

SR, and any defense really, is not very good in PvP. You essentially have no secondary at all any time you're not in elude. While in elude, you're pretty godlike, but that's a very small % of your playtime considering its recharge will be like twice as long as in PvE.

There is really ONE viable secondary in PvP: regen.

Fire can be decent too with a LOT of recharge to get that heal coming back faster. Don't bother with Blazing Aura if you want to PvP, nothing is likely to stay in melee with you long enough to really get any mileage out of it.

Regen IS better, but you can make Fire work.

Very slightly. It's just not up often enough to be completely reliable. The 3 second activation time is also pretty bad.

Defense will be DR'ed into oblivion.

On my Fire/SR, specced to try to PvP, he's got over 100% defense to range in PvE(that's where most of the damage is in PvP) with elude on, and when in PvP he sits at around 48%.

It just didn't work well, unless I was fighting a blaster.



Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

Neither build has enough KB protection. In RV, expect to be on your back *a lot.* You need 41/42 KB protection to keep from being kept on your backside all the time. Especially when your elude runs out, expect to be spiked with enough KB to make your head spin.

Also, the PvP system is not subject to the rules in PvE. Some powers are completely different between systems (Example: Laser Beam Eyes). Defense was made laughable as of i13 and hasn't really been changed since.

SR has plenty of KB prot/res. The most important part is the res. Power sets that don't have KB protection, also don't get the resistance. He will be fine in the KB department. [Practiced Brawler] is more than adequate.

That only applies to sets without inherent KB protection (like fire or dark or any squishy build). Sets that have KB protection as part of the set are 100% immune to KB and don't need to slot a single -kb IO.

So KB is the last of SR's problems. I'd say that getting hit with every single attack thrown at you is the bigger problem
