Comic Culture Parents, you're my only hope

I found my 7yo Aspie daughter eyeing my Scott Pilgrim vol 1 (Haven't finished it yet and will be getting the rest soon I'm hoping) and I told her she's a little too young to read it yet.

At what age should I let her read them? That's a pretty straight forward question eh?

Not really. A lot of it is going to depend on the maturity of your daughter and your relationship with her. My son is 13 and we've talked about everything he sees for as long as he's been able to talk. I am pretty confident I know what he can and can't handle at this point.

The other thing is to think back when you were 7 (if you're like me that was a long time ago) and ask yourself would you have gotten Scott Pilgrim? Now increase that by a year or two because I think kids are more advanced earlier than we were as kids (I'm only 34 btw).

Good luck! I'm so glad I never had a daughter though! lol

I probably would have read it, but I don't have Aspergers syndrome either. It's such a subjective thing...

My parents started letting me read comic books when I was 10.Their reasoning was I would understand it alittle better and not just destroy the comics.

My kids on the other hand never went for comics but my middle daughter she was 7 when she got hooked on Harry Potter and I bought her the books. They are in good condition today and she re-reads them every so often.

It largely depends on your child, and only you know what is best.
