OK i cannot find any postings on this subject and im new to the forums, i have to ask this question because im thinking of making one of the two. i do have a lvl 50 crab but because of the legs i don't want my wolf second build However, im leaning towards making a blaster or corrupter equal to a hunts minus the pets.

1) now the question... are hunts and ar blaster/corrup basically the same - the pets? please shed some light on this for me.
2) hunts +bane powers v.s crab .. which is better for solo and teams (pve)
thank you.

1) Not really. Huntsman will be a lot more survivable (lots more defense, passive mez protection) and provide a bunch of team buffing that the blaster doesn't have access to (or does, but in a far more limited fashion). Blaster should have more raw damage, possibly a smidgen more mez options (build/secondary dependent), but is a lot more fragile. As for Corruptor, it'll vary greatly depending on which secondary, but generally Huntsman is still more survivable, less difference in the damage, and Corruptor will probably offer more buff/debuff options.

2) To be honest, there's likely not much in it. It'll depend on how either one is built, obviously, but the main difference is theme/aesthetics (i.e. do you want the crab legs or not, do you want the gun or not) rather than any major differences in strengths and weaknesses. Either one can be built to solo well and both are pretty much always a great addition to any team.

Well thank you for your reply and after playing the crab for a bit I will respec him back to huntsmen, I feel crab legs are best served on my plate along side with a cup of butter =) again. Thanks for your opinion you made it easy for me to decide.

Nothing really to add, but to chime in and say the above is pretty spot on.

I solved the Crab Spider/Huntsman problem by rolling another soldier, haha.

My Crab Spider now summons six metal spiders and joins them in combat with blasts and buffs, while my Huntsman is a gun/mace combo soldier of fortune.

Yeah, that was my approach to it. Plus, my Crab is a girl, and a little obsessive about the legs. So it wouldn't make sense for her to give them up. I made her second build a Guncrab build, but I stuck with at least some Crab powers so she'd use the legs occasionally. That left me a whole other character to play around with the Bane/Huntsman dual build.

In general, Blasters are going to deal the most direct damage, with mostly self buffing. Corruptors will excel in debuffing their foes and weakening them so they take more damage, but this takes more time to set up ahead of time. Crabs and Hunstmen are sort of in the middle, they buff a little bit, debuff a little bit, and do greater direct damage. They don't get Scourge like Corruptors do, but do a little more damage at the beginning of the fight, and can get some good pets, too.
