I am doing a quest: Stop Nocturne to get a tape. I defeated everyone and only last Nocturne (save the worst for the last). However when I start to fight with her, I do only ridiculous damage but this is not a worst since I am a controler, but my power features doesnt work. Mesmerize only give a damage she dont fall asleep. Dominate has the same problem, she dont suffer the knockback of push bolt, detention field does not work, and yes I hit but nothing happen.
Ok! She is a boss, but this is usual?
Tip! This happened once but with a liutenant troll Gardvord. But I dont care because sometimes happens and sometimes my power works normaly.

Many Bosses, EBs, and AVs have higher resistance to secondary effects like sleep and knockback, and certain LTs even do too. For example, the Gardvord you mentioned has Integration, which protects them from those effects. Check the description of the powers you are using. It should explain that some foes may take multiple casts for the secondary effects to stack and actually be effective.

Thanks for the answer, so the controler is not so good after all. So I just have to discover if the Boss in this quest is affected or not, if not become incredible difficult complete the quest.

That's not necessarily true. You would probably just have to enhance the secondary effects of those powers to make their duration longer so that when you cast it the second time, it'll take effect.

That, or invite somebody along to help you.. even another controller. That would certainly help the effects stack better.

Most bosses will be fine for you (Boss rank). To hold most bosses you only need one point of magnitude (strength) of mez OVER a regular hold - this can be accomplished with another hold (most cycle fast enough to stack, and you can also slot recharge reduction). Dominators under domination can hold with one hold (it doubles thier mez strength) or on controllers you might have "Overpower" hit - a 20% chance at +1 mag.

Now, Nocturne.

She is normally Archvillian rank. The defualt mission settings would make her an "Elite Boss" a this downgrades her damage, regen, etc. Now since she is made as an archvillian even when she is an Elite she has the "Purple Triangles of Doom" - PToD for short. It's an auto power that takes effect part of the time (something like on 20 seconds, then off 40) and while it's active the creature is highly resistant to mez. If active little purple triangles float around her. This is probably your main issue.

If you need help, try asking in help (/hc) or your servers global channels (lists found in the server fourms on this board)

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.

It's up for roughly 50 and down for roughly 20-25 seconds. (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Purple_Triangles)

Sadly, it's necessary to make those very powerful encounters non-trivial (Just holding somebody and beating them down does not make for an exciting encounter). Which is bad for controllers and dominators because this nullifies their main form of protection when solo.

You're probably going to want to look for a teammate on this one.

Buy six defense Inspirations and six red inspirations. Take 3 each before you start the fight, take 3 each when you see they are fading. Profit.
