My Fire/Fire/Cold build, need input
Wow, how did Kin Combats get so pricey recently. I need to ticket farm like who to try and get them. They are going for 160mil a pop now. They were 40-60 like 3 weeks ago hehe. I still really like this build but have not put it in place. Is my end going to be okay with my chains here?
Your build looks fine. Your end use should be very manageable. Acrobatics is almost always enough KB protection and I would not bother slotting anything past Acro. The nuke is very optional and since you did not really want it anyway, I'd drop it altogether and probably pick up Hibernate. Ring of Fire is an excellent ranged attack when slotted.
Here is your build with my modest tweaks.

Not sure why you took Acrobatics?
Why not just a Steadfast +KB instead?
Why so late for Firebreath? It is a staple of your attack chain (or should be). My attack chain solo - Fireball, drop out of line of sight, Rain of Fire, Firebreath, Fireball again or Fire Sword Circle, Combustion and Consume. Blaze the Boss or an Lt and pour it on with low level attacks to finish those flickering with life.
I also usually skip the Nuke or get it at 49. I also usually skip the snipe as well.
Wow, how did Kin Combats get so pricey recently. I need to ticket farm like who to try and get them. They are going for 160mil a pop now. They were 40-60 like 3 weeks ago hehe. I still really like this build but have not put it in place. Is my end going to be okay with my chains here?

- Take firebreath sooner -- move fighting
- I'd work in a KB IO (like karma in CJ), you are already toggle heavy why add another? (accro)
- Don't forget about enfeb op set for Ring of Fire -- might be worth looking into
- do you really need 2 slots in travel power (not to mention its not a KB IO)
- potentially extra slots to use elsewhere in health?
- How often do you think you will need to be using consume?
- What Alpha boost are you going to get? Really dmg?? You're a blaster, what about the End/Range?
- Maybe take out grant invs for another attack like RainOF, or the snipe (7.5 set there) ...
Lots of directions you could go...
In terms of Mace -- I like it for the Eng defense, and the AoE immob. Ice is nice with its goodies -- totally up to you.
Issue 24 PPM Calculator // The Great Makeover: The Vindicators
I want to chime in about Acrobatics. I strongly encourage you not to drop it. I have high defense Pistols/File blaster that plays at very close range, but does not have Acro. I have an almost nil defense Fire/Fire blaster that lives in melee and does have Acro. I have an Emp/Elec defender with Acro and an Emp/Ice defender without it.
The hold protection is very noticeable and useful. I just wish I could pick up Acro by only taking one other leaping power.

Thank you all for the responses. Great suggestion on the proc in KC for the mule pwrs. I took 3 slotting of SJ for the sets in BotZ to help reach my soft cap. I have not played around much with blasters but I know when I get held on my scrap(rarely) it drops some toggles and that is less time I can be focused on what I should do. As far as the alpha slotting I was hoping to get input on my end cosumption as I can always snag the end redux instead if I am having problems but I am hoping to cover those in the build rather than with the alpha. Range would be nice for blaze but other than that I rarely would see much of a benefit if I am trying to achieve a soft cap right? The idea I am going for is to be able to stay close in for burn. I think I could easily swap in fire breath earlier. To take the snipe instead and get the recharge I would have to invest more slots there that I am tight on already.
For my KB I have 4 from BotZ, 3 from Fury of the Glad and 3.5 from Acrobatics(If I keep it) Is that overkill on having acrobatics? I am not sure where else to get some hold protection though. Any ideas? As for consume, my original thought was that if I keep the nuke then I would want it to recover my end after and in this case it is prob overslotted for that. I could take 1 slot from it and throw that into health or some other location. If I drop the nuke entirely then I lose some of the kb protection from the set there and I am still not sure how much to shoot for as a safe amount? if I drop the nuke then I would prob go for the rain, any other suggestions there?
So here would be my idea if I can get to villan side and back. I took fire breath much earlier. I have a hold now for things like LGTF as I have been in a few groups without any holds. Any suggestions from here?

Looks like a fun build. You have one purple set slotted. Down the line, if you want more purples, Ragnorak goes well into Fireball and Apocalypse would drop into Flares nicely without losing any of your defense.
Why Blasters? Empathy Sucks.
So, you want to be Mental?
What the hell? Let's buff defenders.
Tactics are for those who do not have a big enough hammer. Wisdom is knowing how big your hammer is.
Apocalypse should always go in Blaze if you don't already have ED-capped recharge enhancement in that power. Blaze needs to recharge as fast as possible.
|
However, in this build the recharge difference between slotting the Apoc in Blaze as opposed to slotting the Apoc in Flares is 0.2 seconds (3.075 vs 2.837), not worth it on the surface. But Flares + Blast takes 3.036 seconds to animate. Since the build is near perma-Hasten, it is reasonable to run the chain Flares-Blast-Blaze or even Flares-Sword-Blaze. Since you are not using Flares twice as often in the chain, the Apoc is better placed in Blaze.

Normally, I would prefer slotting the Apoc in Flares because the few tenths of seconds better recharge on Blaze is not worth it compared to being able to have the Apoc proc have a chance to fire twice as often. A chain like Flares - Blaze - Flares - Blast or Flares - Blaze - Flares - Sword is what I was thinking.

In any case, as you point out, proc placement only cares how often the attack is used, and Blaze should be used as often as anything else in the OP's build.
All of that said, and with respect to the OP's build -- Ring of Fire has spectacular DPA, much better than either Blast or Flares. It also happens to animate faster than Blast. So if he were to switch his attack chain to Blaze-Ring-Flares he could, in fact, benefit quite a bit from the extra recharge enhancement in Blaze. (And save a power pick in the process, or hold onto Blast because a larger up-front chunk of damage is nice to have through most of our minion-centric game content.) Toss on a Very Rare Spiritual Boost, and you'll be flirting with the recharge cap on Blaze and a gapless ranged attack chain that outpaces any other Fire Blaster's.
I'd also question the decision to take Mace Mastery without taking Web Envelope and Rain of Fire, the combo of which is, as far as I'm concerned, one of the primary benefits of that APP (apart from the S/L shield, of course). And I'd question the OP's apparent fascination with low-end +regeneration bonuses. (The difference between his slotting scheme in Health and no slots at all is a whopping ~5 hp/sec; the difference between his four-slot scheme and the standard two-slot Miracle/Numina scheme is ~3.5 HP/sec. The bottom line is that this build will have to rely on inspirations and/or teammate heals to get by.)
Also, Breath really craves range enhancement. At 40', the cone covers ~418 square feet, and is ~20 feet wide at its widest point. At 60', the cone covers ~942 square feet and is ~31 feet wide at its widest point.
A lot of the above comes down to preference, though. Just some thoughts from someone who's fiddled endlessly with his own Fire Blasters.
Does anyone have an idea on how to get close to the same level of recharge, still keeping s/l soft capped, and running assault? A couple ideas I was trying to think of was maybe dropping fire breath and the nuke to try and free up some other slots. My aoe chain pretty much consists of fireball, burn, fsc. Then throw in a blaze on the boss and repeat as necessary. The aoe dmg of those three attacks coming up with 88 recharge base(before hasten) is pretty close. I know breath is a good attack but I find I am not using it nearly as often as the other 3 aoes. Burn is just so much fun in close quarters.
I have taken the advice and just thrown the stealth pool at the end of my build and took fire breath earlier But I just don't seem to use it. The nuke I rarely use also but when I do it is still a fun power to pop off. I ran in a Katie TF the other day and every other wave I was able to kill the majority of minors right off the bat and I couldn't stop smiling hehe. I am running the second tier musc alpha right now and just figured if my goal is to be pushing out dmg without trying to face plant, If I could somehow fit Assult that would add to the dmg even more. I am guessing I can save for some purples to throw into blaze and offset the lose of some lotgs no?
This is what I came up with until I can afford some better purples etc. I know cages is a higher dmg attack so I can swap the slots in either flares or it. If I drop flares I really have no idea what else to take. I can't fnd anything I can slot with my last LoTG available. Any suggestions there to get the rech back to 88 before hasten? I don't plan on actually running manuvers but I have it basically for a lotg mule. I am def open to swaping other thngs around to run it and drop slots from another pwr as long as I can still keep 45 s/l and the end drain doesnt get to high.

Here is the current build I am planning. I definitly wanted to be soft capepd to s/l and get as much recharge as I could while still keeping my end in check. I really don't think I would be using my nuke that much but I could not think of anything else really to take. I want to make sure I am not always being knocked down held with cc but i am not to familair other than slotting acrobatics or the mag protection in BotZ etc. I have +3 from fury of the gladiator also in but not sure if that is worth it or if I should go some other route. I also plan on getting the dmg alpha. Any ideas or ways to improve? I could also head over to villan and sswap to Mace mastery instead but I am not sure what would be best.
