Has anyone actually followed the old blaptroller ele/ele/ele guide?

I am going to test it out myself hopefully all the way to 50, I use to play one no another server but only made it to 30ish before switching to another game, I remember it being quite effective and safe if I timed everything right. Anyways what was your experience?

I remember reading that guide a long time ago when I first rolled my Elec/Elec/Elec Blaster (I've been trying to coin the term "Electriple" but it won't catch on). I just checked my hours logged with Chromium Man III, my main, and it was some disgusting number in the thousands. Anyway, I've played him as a Blaptroller for years now to great effect. I can solo most content, including AVs scaled down to EBs (with inspirations). He plays extremely well solo and in teams and even though Elec/ gets a bad rap compared to other blast sets, I find that my damage isn't lacking.

I'm especially excited to slot one of the rare Damage Alpha Boosts when it comes out. The extra damage is nice, but the SOs worth of End Mod in every one of my attacks for free will make draining mobs and keeping them drained even easier. I feel like the toon can fill many roles in a team. One of the complaints about Elec/ is that it is a jack of all trades and master of none, but that is precisely what I love about it. On a team, when the tank is firmly in control, I AoE to my heart's content. When there's nothing but bosses left, I break out the ST attacks and whittle them down. If the tank starts to become overwhelmed, I jump in with Power Sink and Short Circuit and the end drain, while not as good as a hold, can buy enough time for things to get back in control.

One of my proudest moments was just a few nights ago. We were forming an LGTF and we had all damage ATs and no support. Someone went to change to a controller to help hold the mitos and I said "Don't bother, I've got three holds."

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've considered writing a guide but I honestly only have experience with the powers that I've chosen and used for more than 5 years now. That being said, I'm happy to help in anyway I can, even if I'm not an expert.

It's an old guide of course, and many options have been added into the game to
consider since, but the principles remain solid, and it's still my favorite "way" to
play a Blaster personally.

Although I personally use Munitions instead of Elec for an APP, because I like
Surveillance and LRM, my elec/elec/muni is still extremely solid at 50, and quite
enjoyable despite the neg rep elec blast tends to get from the damage hounds.
Three holds to cycle between attacks makes holding most hard targets a snap -
or allows me to take several enemies out of action to destroy at leisure by
spreading the joy around the mob - and the short circuit + power sink sap is
excellent in large groups(and occassionally hard targets as well, when it works
on them.)

I personally like keeping the snipe, as it + LRM gives me good options to soften up
a group before I close to blast and smash when soloing(and I *don't* like
Thunderous Blast, which is contrary to most blaster players I find.) But a good side
of the elec/elec/ route is you have a lot of choices to pick your
playstyle from.

It's been my main Blaster since I've been playing heroes, and though I've tried many
other kinds since, I still greatly enjoy what it does and how it does it. I don't think it's
ever going to be an AV killer, but that's a goal I don't usually set for myself - I'm happy
just clearing out EBified versions when they're in my way, and it does that very well
too.

My problem with /Elec is I feel it needs a supplemental AoE. I took the set because the way I read it the set had an AoE stun and a big PBAoE with Thunder Strike. I finally leveled my blaster and it turns out Lighting Clap has only a small chance to stun secondary targets and Thunder Strike does only token damage to secondary targets. I was annoyed, especially since /Mental has so much supplemental AoE.

Thanks allot chrono I will look you up for sure.

And thanks everyone else.

See circuit boy seems some people see blaptrolling as fun and useful.

Angelofvalor, I believe you have, in your haste, mistaken the point I was trying to make to you. I suggest you go re-read what I wrote, so that you're no longer aiming your lance at windmills.

I never suggested "blaptrolling" is neither fun nor useful. Never.

I suggested it's not the only route, which you seem dead-set on. You're the one who has said it's the only way to play E^3. All I said was that there are other ways that are just as fun and just as useful.

Shouldn't Lightning Field keep the mobs endurance floored?

Auroxis, unfortunately, it doesn't. Lightning Field ticks every 2 seconds, and it only drains 2% Endurance when it ticks.

However, endurance recovery ticks on a different schedule (I forget what that is), and so foes will regain some endurance before the next tick of Lightning Field.

The only way to keep mobs' endurance floored is through -Recovery Debuffs; Short Circuit, Tesla Cage, and Thunderous Blast all have a 100% chance to do -100% Recovery Debuff.
