Master of Tin Mage question

Ok, I almost ran a Tin Mage TF last night. Someone was recruiting, and eventually mentioned doing a 'master of' run. I assumed I could come as I was for the party, but once the team (finally) got organized, the leader starting producing a shopping list of needed stuff to accomplish the TF for the badge. At this point, wanting to play rather than collect temp powers, I bailed on the team.

What I recall from the list was:
Bio Nuke
Chem Nuke
Jet Pack (understandable)
Shivans
Envenomed Daggers
(don't recall anything else, but I can't guarantee it's all)

Personally I hate picking up the nukes, and don't really care for getting shivans anymore either. I despise venturing into the PVP zones because of DR, and simply avoid them (but that's another rant).

What I don't understand from this is why the shopping list is needed at all. Sure, I can understand making sure everyone can fly since you need to get past the trip mines without setting them off, but what other requirement of the 'master of' could demand such an overstock of power boost. I simply don't recall the TF being even close to that bad.

Too many alts to list.

OK, thanks. That explains it. It also indicates that I'll probably never bother doing a master run. Good thing I'm indifferent to badges.

Out of well over 1,200 badges in the game right now the new "Midnight Dodger What Dodges at Midnight" badge is by far the only one I can think of off-hand that requires the specific set of temp powers you mentioned used by the entire team to accomplish effectively. For a sub-badge (1 of 4) that contributes towards a Master badge it doesn't really seem unreasonable to me to have to do fairly special/unusual things to get it. Basically if you weren't willing to use those powers and tactics for that run you probably would have ruined the chances for the others to get that badge.

I'm quite sure there are plenty of people out there willing to run a Tin Mage who don't care about badges.
Better luck to you in finding one of those teams sometime. *shrugs*

The funny thing was that after I quit the team (because I don't have interest in badges, and particularly wasting extra time in pursuit of them), they messaged me after I was in a mission to indicate that they had given up on master of, and were just doing it normally. However since they had already wasted 20 minutes of my time before that, I declined. Then I got on a Apex team after finishing my mission. That team got master of Apex. That's wasn't much trouble. We just had to follow instructions and play competently.

The Dodger badge is the one you can get in the first mission of the Tin Mage TF for avoiding damage from Director 11's mine layer pets. If you fail it (or give up trying for it) it's perfectly possible to complete that TF without worrying about the other "Master" parts of it. The badges for the Apex TF Master run are relatively simple by comparison.

Basically Dodger is currently one of the most "labor intensive" badges out there because of the exact planning and tactics involved. There's really no other badge out there that's quite as picky about how to get it as a coordinated single mission team goal. It's perfectly fine if you don't want to put in the time to challenge yourself with badging, but if you're judging ALL badging by the extremeness of this one odd case then I think you're doing yourself a disservice. YMMV of course.

MoAPEX is much more easily obtainable than MoTin.

Last night we have decided to run DoubleMo APEX ( get MoApex badge and run it using Traditional MO settings: no temps/0 defeats just for added challenge). We got MoApex badge, but failed challenge (we had 1 death 15 seconds before end of TF). All it took just 31 minutes. And that time includes couple minutes we were waiting for one player to exit map to slot his Alpha, he forgot to slot it before TF was started.
