Difficulty and drops
The mob levels (your level vs the mobs level) doesn't matter as far as drops go.
The type of mob (minion, lt, boss, etc) does have an effect on the drop rate.
The only thing the actual level of the mob affects is WHAT drops (the various drops
are level-gated, so a level 10 mob won't be dropping from the level 40-50 table), and
the actual level of the receipe that drops (it will be equal to the mob's level or at the
max level range for that receipe).
If all you are interested in is drops themselves, then go with +0 / x (as high as you can quickly handle). Increasing the mob levels is really just to keep things interesting.
6000+ levels gained and 8 level 50's
Hello, my name is Soulwind and I have Alt-Itis.
Thanks =D

you didn't mention what level you are and that could make a difference as you approach level 50. you need to be fighting level 47 or higher mobs to have a chance for a purple recipe to drop. so what I usually do is increase the number of mobs up until level 45 or 46, depending on the characters. then I flip that around and go with +1 or +2/x1 or x2 so that most of the mobs in the mission spawn at level 47.
I've been running 0/x4 and now that my build seems to be fleshing out I'm planning on increasing the difficulty.
Increasing the amount of mobs would definitely increase drops but would increasing the level of the mobs do anything for the drops or just simply make the mission harder? |
as I gain levels, I start increasing the number of mobs again and bring down the +1 or +2 until, at level 50, I am at +0/x(whatever I can reasonably handle)
