Ragnarok in Ignite?
I haven't tried it since, like you, I put the kd proc in Full Auto (which is nice given the long animation times). My gut instinct though says that it's not going to be a huge benefit in Ignite. The problem is that procs in patch style powers (like Ignite) only work every 10 seconds which means you're only getting one change to knockdown foes which seems to me that given the long cast time you're better off relying on immobilization.
One thing I'm not sure about is whether the 10 second rule for procs in continuous powers is based on the power or the individuals (i.e. does it check all enemies in there, wait 10 seconds and then check again or does it individually check someone entering the patch and then check them again 10 seconds later). I strongly suspect it's the former since from a code point of view that makes a lot more sense but I'll admit I don't know for sure. If it was the latter that would make it a little more useful since you could immobilize the primary target(s) and any enemies who brushed the patch would have chance to be knocked down and take some damage as well.
I have the knockdown in caltrops on a few characters. It is nice when it kicks in, but isn't reliable enough by itself. I don't have any math, but from observation I think a damage proc would be more effective. However, I can't bring myself to swap out because I like the idea of them falling onto spikes. And similarly falling around in the fire patch.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
Short answer: Like all toggle powers, or powers that summon a pseudo-pet to do the real damage/debuffing, Ignite will give procs placed in it a chance to go off when the power is activated and once every 10 seconds thereafter, on any/all targets that are being effected by the power at the time. It does NOT get to roll for procs on every damage tick, turning it into a fiery version of Ice Patch. As such, Ignite + Ragnarok will have a 20% chance of knockdown when the fire first starts, and when the fire is put out, but not in between while the baddies are on fire. Whether or not this is of use to you will depend on taste, but I'd still be more confident with Webnade + Ignite than Ignite + hope-it-procs.
Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

So in looking at respeccing my AR/Dev blaster I have been fooling around with slotting some of my IO sets and had what seemed like a good idea in theory but was wondering if anyone has some actual experience with this.
I have a full set of Ragnarok which previously I used in FA. I kinda liked the knockdown proc in there because it helped me mitigate damage on large mobs while solo. But in coming up with my respecced build and Ignite seemingly being situational do to its fear component and the need to immobilize foes before use, I had the "brainstorm" to throw the knockdown proc in Ignite to help keep foes flopping around and in the patch.
I've searched to see if someone has tried this (I'm sure someone has) but my search fu turned up nada. Anyone tried this? Anyone have a good (or otherwise) reason while this wouldn't be worth trying? Any advice welcome.
