happy and sad with cardiac alpha
Yeah, theres a portion of the boost that isn't effected by ED. Once the two other levels of boosts get released then you should be able to upgrade to where a significant amount of your boost bypasses ED.

If your power is enhanced to +40% (the point where ED starts), the first boost gets you +3.3% + 16.6%*0.9 = 18.3%, or 58.3% total. The biggest boost gets you +13.3% +6.6%*0.9 = +19.3%, or +59.3% total.
If your power is enhanced to +50% (the next ED break point, and the equivalent of 2 level 50 IOs): First boost is +3.3% + 16.6%*0.7 = 15%, or 65% total. Biggest boost is +13.3% +6.6%*0.7 = +18%, or +68% total.
If your power is already enhanced to +60% (the last ED break point, and about what you get from 3 level 50 IOs): First boost is +3.3% + 16.6%*0.15 = 5.8%, or 65.8% total. Biggest boost is +13.3% +6.6%*0.15 = +14.3%, or +74.3% total.
The first boost is just not a huge benefit for powers that are already affected by ED. If your resistance is already at 87%, it'll get you to the 90% cap. That means you need powers with 54% resistance *before enhancement*, then max slot them, then get the cardiac boost, to cap yourself. (Not counting IO set bonuses.) Do even tanks have that much base resistance? Maybe Stone, or Inv with Tough?
The biggest boost in the tree...might be worth it. Not sure. It will cap you if your powers have a base, unenhanced resistance of 51%, already enhanced to 81% with IOs. But is using your incarnate slot worth gaining a total of +9% resistance?
I'm coming to the opinion that the incarnate slots are best for gaining benefits that are typically underslotted -- like endurance reduction and recharge -- or for freeing up slots. They are not for useful for improving an AT's strengths. They won't make a tanker much tougher, but they can make him last longer, recharge faster, or have extra slots that would otherwise have gone to damage or accuracy.

the bad side was the damage resistance of 20% on my fire tank ended up only being about 4% more resistance. i went from a 77% s/l resistance to 81% resistance.thats all fine and dandy and all. but i was hoping for at least alittle more.

Previously, resistance was mitigating all but 23% of the damage. Now, resistance mitigates all but 19%. So, 4/23 = 17.3% less damage taken. Or you could look at it the other way: 4/19 = 21% more damage taken with your old build.
I think its better suited to take out resistance being used in the passives. If you normally 3 slot the passives you can drop it down to 2 instead gaining a few more slots. Thats what I plan to do. The whole overslotting for that extra little bit just isnt worth it especially if I end up using a tier 9 anyways.

Given the mathematics are correct (I'm sure they are). The incarnate powers, interestingly, seem to float b/w, at best, the average passive power with only the first slot slotted to, at worst, average passive power taken and not slotted. Or is that just me? Note that this is more of a generalization than a mathmatical truth.
**Edit: never mind, my speculation seems to wrong especially if a power is "fully" slotted.

I have my stone tank softcapped to the 6 main types of def, so I am using the same boost to hope it helps with the other damage types to get as close to capping each resistance as possible. to me, every little bit helps. Thanks to enherant fitness, i now have about 27 percent positive recharge in granite.
I looked at all 4 main types of slots, and for me, endurance recovery was the way to go. Now I never run out of end and it is great! I dont need extra damage, accuracy, def, or recharge right now, I need extra end a resistance. I see this particular slot as the way to go for just about all tanks except maybe invul, which could use the extra acc/def to bring them right in line with stone tanks in granite. just about any tank is going to want more survivability from either the def or resistance...thats our role in things, you know.

and that sounds like a tougher tank to me! lol They are meant for Improving an AT's strengths, If you do careful planning you can build your Tank around it. Hell you might not even need to. These first 2 slots are just a taste of what's to come and even when you get to the Super Rare of the Alpha Tree you get a level shift AKA lvl 51. If you look at The Incrante tree there is 10 slots and I'm sure each one will end up being a lvl shift. Of course I could be wrong but it looks like it's going that way. Anyways Say your tank has IOs that use some END REDX you go Cardiac and are able to now switch the IO's around for better tanking or something else seeing as your Cardiac will now take care of your END. Just examples but who knows what's in store but I'm lovin' it as it is

totally worth it!
